Billionaire
Is there a source that he is a billionaire? The only source I can find cites his personal wealth at over a billion USD, rather than GBP. Common sense would dictate to use the country where they are domiciled.... 151.231.96.216 (talk) 12:40, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- Forbes says $1.7 billion, which is more than GBP 1 billion anyway, so the point is moot. Edwardx (talk) 16:24, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
Request to correct inaccuracies
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
As an employee of WA Capital Group, Sir Will Adderley's investment company, I'm here on behalf of Sir Will to request some edits to his father's Wikipedia page. Before I continue, I want to note that I have recently learned about Wikipedia's guidelines for conflict of interest and the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, and I had previously tried to edit this page to correct information. I'm sorry for the past missteps and as I'm now informed of the rules, I will refrain from editing and will use requests to seek edits.
The main update that I'm looking for editors' help with is fixing confusion between Bill Adderley and Sir Will Adderley on the page.
It is not William "Bill" Adderley that has been knighted but his son, Sir William Lester Adderley. As they are both "William Adderley" this has occasionally been mixed up by media and other organizations, and the incorrect details here on Wikipedia are causing ongoing confusion. This is especially so since the name is wrong at the start of the page.
As you can see on the Dunelm website, Sir Will Adderley has the title, but Bill Adderley (the subject of this page) does not. The knighthood for Sir Will is also confirmed by newspaper articles, including this one and this one. Likewise, you can see in various sources, including the official public record of Sir Will's knighthood and the Dunelm Group's Companies House record, that his full name is William Lester Adderley. Bill Adderley's full name listed in public records is William Adderley, per this Companies House record.
Can the following changes be made?
- Correcting the start of the page to simply William "Bill" Adderley
- Removing the "Sir" from above the infobox
- Adding sources and clarifying information to the final sentence of Personal life: His son, Sir William
"Will" Lester Adderley, is a director and deputy chairman of Dunelm Group plc,[1][2] while his other son, Jonathan, is not actively involved in the business.[3]
Thank you for your help with this. Alex at WA Capital Group (talk) 14:55, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

- Thank you, User:PK650. Is there anything that can be done to make sure that this doesn't get changed back in future? Or shall I just keep a close eye on the page?
- Also, I am sorry, I think that you missed the start of the proposed sentence for the Personal life, as it was appearing on the line above the rest of the sentence. Would you be able to add "His son, Sir William" at the start of that sentence? Thanks again. Alex at WA Capital Group (talk) 17:02, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- No problem. PK650 (talk) 04:31, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you so very much, User:PK650. Hopefully there won't be any issues in the future with the name and title, but if so, I will reach out for editors to help again. Thanks again. Alex at WA Capital Group (talk) 15:18, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- Unfortunately it appears that further edits have been made to the page which are inaccurate and again confuse Bill Adderley with Sir Will Adderley.
- Are you able to assist with the following changes please?
- Remove “Knighthood section”.
- Remove “Sir”.
- Is it possible to add a note on the page which makes clear that this page doesn’t relate to Sir William Adderley (son of Bill Adderley).
- Thank you for your help. Alex at WA Capital Group (talk) 16:57, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
