Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because Both the cited blog and the Bar Council article that I have referenced are reproductions of the same obituary article by a leading newspaper called the News Straits Times. The Obituary article was published in 2007 and the original is no longer available. --Malaysian leftist (talk) 15:21, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Would the News Straits Times article not be protected under copyright if it was published in 2007? @Malaysian leftist RoanokeVirginia (talk) 17:40, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well - the version that I prematurely published first is in note form and hence some sentences are identical to the article. It would of course be re-written to some extent. But given that it's an obituary from the only known source and a certain degree of verification is also expected, I still do think that would be some similarities once I am done. I am looking for other sources but basically only have two articles thus far as his peak of 'notablity' was in the 1970s when he was a political prisoner and the 1980s when he ran for parliament and narrowly lost twice. All of this is pre-internet of course. Malaysian leftist (talk) 16:52, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
