Happy New Year

2024

Same location pictured as 2019, on one of two cards for the new year. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:48, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Danke, Gerda, und ein frohes neues Jahr für dich! Ich habe mich gefragt, warum Yul Bryner auf der rechten Seite im Januar kurze Hosen und Sandalen trug, aber es scheint, es war Juni, also ist alles gut! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:46, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
auf welcher rechten Seite? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:37, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The bald man in sandals on the immediate right of the picture. Looks like Yul from the side. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:14, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see ;) - As you found already, the 2023 picture is from the Abel Fest in Köthen, celebrating the tercentenary of Carl Friedrich Abel, a viol virtuoso, composer and concert organiser in London (together with Bach's youngest son), born on 22 December 1723 in Köthen, where the new catalogue of his works was introduced, - my story today. - I know some people in the pic, but not YB. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:44, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Gibt es Proteste von Landwirten, bei denen ihr die Straßen blockiert? Ich sehe eine Menge Traktoren und Proteste in den sozialen Medien. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:47, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they are angry about proposed reduction of subventions. - What I came to request is expanding Linz State Theatre that you once created ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:58, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Bald. I mean "soon", not Yul Bryner of course! :-) ♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:38, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have a DYK on the Main page, but my story would be different, about Figaro, - this Figaro. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:32, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Did someone mention Yul Brynner? Lol etcetera! etcetera! etcetera!!  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 17:28, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Today's DYK is the person who made the image possible. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:39, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
12 years precious! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:38, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Long time ago, doesn't feel like it! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:04, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Somebody is speeding up time, can't believe it was 17 days ago I said "soon"! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:20, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed with a new wikiproject

I see, Dr. Blofeld, that when you started the WP Women back in 2015, you managed to set everything up so that the stats, article alerts, etc., worked as they should. I've been trying to do the same for WikiProject Electronic literature but without much success. I have created Category:WikiProject Electronic literature articles by quality but there seems to be a problem. I think that as for WP Women, we should go for stats on quality but not on importance. I would also appreciate help with populating the empty categories Category:Unknown-importance Electronic literature articles and Category:NA-importance Electronic literature articles but these might work once we have stats, etc. Hope you are continuing to enjoy your music, language learning and other interests, and that this is not asking too much of your efforts now that you are no longer very active on Wikipedia. If you are tied up with other matters, no problem -- just let me know.--Ipigott (talk) 14:09, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ser Amantio is the man to ask for category population, should be able to do it faster than me. It's just life and priorities aside from those interests. Time is passing very quickly and never enough time in the day to do what I want to. I've been meaning to get back into editing since Christmas, and we're already in February! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:33, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick reply. Good to hear you intend to return to editing. If it's not asking too much, could you check whether what I've been doing to trigger the quality stats is correct. I have a feeling things are not set up properly. Also alerting Ser Amantio di Nicolao.--Ipigott (talk) 15:10, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ipigott, adding a ping to Ser Amantio di Nicolao as your link went to his bio article. Also, +1 to Dr. B's recommendation: Ser is the person I would ping regarding this topic. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:25, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ipigott, Dr. Blofeld, and Rosiestep: it will be a few days before I can look at this, but I think I can at least start working on it this weekend and see what shakes out. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 23:30, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just wanted to let you know that thanks to the assistance of Asilvering we have progressed on assessment. It also looks as if the empty categories will now be populated by bot next Tuesday.--Ipigott (talk) 07:23, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ipigott I'm not sure what makes these empty categories populate properly - what happens on Tuesday? I hand-tested a few articles and found that they worked out okay, and some of the others have ended up in the categories properly already, but most are still not sorted. So help is still appreciated! -- asilvering (talk) 08:26, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Asilvering:: Sorry to continue this exchange on Dr. Blofeld's page but I created these categories on the basis of what I found on WP Women as they appeared to be part of the assessment set up. Now that you have set up assessment and article alerts yourself, the categories may not be necessary and could therefore be deleted. I'm not at all sure they serve any useful purpose but we can see what happens on Tuesday.--Ipigott (talk) 10:24, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm referring to the empty ones I created, that I was expecting would be filled. I don't know what other categories you are talking about. I did put a CSD in for the one category I saw you created, once I realized it existed and was now redundant. -- asilvering (talk) 16:43, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article Platzl (Munich) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no content or sources (nothing to merge). german article is on the the whole square; en-wiki article has plenty of space to discuss the theatre on its own article for the square, if sources on the theatre are found

February music

My calendar story today is about Michael Herrmann celebrating his birthday. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:19, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've translated much of Linz State Theatre. It's a pain in the arse chasing up and formatting references. German wiki cites those page numbers yet says it's from page 189 in the book and also says 1959 in the refs yet the bibliography says 1952! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:53, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the extra effort! - I agree that it's a pain, differing page numbers, but worse are (the usual) no refs at all. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:52, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Found a ref for you, [1] from Gramophone. Couldn't believe two works by Glass were premiered there! The Lost probably deserves an article, and the event mentioning in the prose of the theatre. I'm busy today - see my story. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:12, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
