Source / accuracy of Barrett statements

[edit]

"Proud's unusual musical style has been likened to that of Britain's Syd Barrett, though he was unfamiliar with Barrett's work when he recorded three albums of his own songs in the late Sixties." --- This seems an odd statement. Barrett's solo work all comes after Proud seemingly ends his career in the 60s. So it's an empty statement: he didn't know Barrett's (solo) work because it didn't yet exist. However the statement could be construed to mean he didn't know Pink Floyd (which were a fairly popular band even at that time), and this should require some source --- an interview perhaps?
