Letter Boxed is a online word puzzle video game created by Sam Ezersky and published in 2019 (soft-launched in 2018) by the New York Times Company. It was the third game published in the puzzles section on the New York Times website behind the Crossword and Spelling Bee.[1]

Letter Boxed was created as part of an effort to attract new subscribers for the crossword.[1]

Gameplay

Players are given a box with three letters on each side. They must connect all the letters to make words at least three letters long without consecutively using letters on the same side of the box, with the last letter in the word becoming the first letter of the next. The goal is to use all the letters in as few words as possible.[2][3] The box and the letters are updated daily.
