Notability?

[edit]

I must be missing something here. This person was a centurion, which is the equivalent of a senior NCO, such as a sergeant, in a modern army. Are NCOs notable? Or is he important for some reason not documented in this article? Asking here before I submit this to WP:AfD. -- llywrch (talk) 00:09, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

We are trying to keep records of attested members of Roman legions. -- Saturnian (talk) 21:14, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Identical person ??

[edit]

I'm not sure, but I find it doubtful, that the centurio of CIL 11, 00020, who served in 4 different legions is identical with the veteranus of CIL 03, 00971, who served in legio XI Claudia pia fidelis.

James Robert Summerly does not mention inscription CIL 03, 00971 (see http://etheses.dur.ac.uk/1503/1/1503_v1.pdf?EThOS%20(BL) pp 99-100), when explaining the career of Rufus of CIL 11, 00020. Are there scholars, who are in favor of an identity?
