Errors

[edit]

This list contains lots factual inaccuracies, for example according to this list Mahinda Rajapaksa was minister of urban development between 19 November 2005 and 9 January 2015. However, according to these sources [1] [2] Dinesh Gunawardena was appointed Minister of Urban Development and Water Supply on 23 November 2005 and Minister of Urban Development and Sacred Area Development on 28 January 2007. The problem is that the creator of this list, Alpha Monarch/PrinceSulaiman has caught LionsRule125-Adhisha4 disease - adding content without any references, based on their assumptions of how the world is, not how it actually is.--obi2canibetalk contr 11:42, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nice word of “LionsRule125-Adhisha4 disease, Actually I have never seen his/her contributions, but that word “disease” is way too exaggerated since this article is only recently started, and I'm improving this article and it will take time to do the references on the contents. Thanks for that 2007 Gazette link on Dinesh Gunawardena's portfolio! You're welcome to improve this article! I'm not WP:OWNERSHIP. If you have found any ministerial portfolios that have the Urban Development Authority please link it up here and add the Urban development ministries of Sri Lanka category to their respective articles. Your contributions to my articles are highly appreciated.  MONARCH Talk to me 13:19, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It is not my job or anyone else to clean up your mess. Don't add content and afterwards try to find references for the content. This is a violation of WP:V. If you don't have WP:RS don't add the content in the first place. This is supposed to be an encyclopaedia. People come here to find facts and because you have chosen to ignore Wikipedia policies they may go away thinking that Rajapaksa was minister of urban development between 19 November 2005 and 9 January 2015 when he wasn't. And please explain why you removed the factual inaccuracy tag.--obi2canibetalk contr 18:04, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Obi2canibe: The problem is that Dinesh Gunawardena and Rohana Dissanayake (non-cabinet Minister of Urban Development) received same portfolios at the same time. At that time, When Rajapaksa (he too was the Urban Development […is president of Sri Lanka and also gave himself the roles of Minister of Defence and Urban Development…], his brother Gotabaya was Secretary to Defence and Urban) was in power, there were multiple parliamentarians holding same portfolios (including cabinets and non-cabinets), I have no idea how to add these ministers to the table because it can be confusing when there is more than one Minister holding this post. If you wish to assist me fixing this confusion, that would be great. I have removed that tag because you have added it way too early as I'm planning to expand the article and then you reverted these edits. I have no way violated the WP:V, if you search Mahinda Rajapaksa Ministry of Defence and Urban Development on Google the result relating to his name would appear on the search. He has held multiple powerful ministers without giving other parliamentarians to do their duties as a minister.  MONARCH Talk to me 19:14, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Rajapaksa may have been a minister of urban development at some time but that does not mean he was minister of urban development during the entirety of his presidency (19 November 2005 and 9 January 2015). The Channel 4 News source you provided only states that he was minister of urban development, it doesn't give dates. You are misinterpreting this to mean that he was minister of urban development from 19 November 2005 and 9 January 2015. You have not grasped the basics of WP:V. You need to find WP:RS for the dates or otherwise don't provide dates. You are using the existence of non-cabinet minsters as a smokescreen to justify adding factual inaccuracies. The established convention in tables of ministers is to only include cabinet minister, not non-cabinet minsters, state ministers or deputy ministers. There was only one cabinet minister of urban development at any time. Spend some time doing a bit of research.--obi2canibetalk contr 12:24, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
