Changing city land area

I am updating the population to match the 2010 census. One other area that needs to be updated (or simply remove the old stats) is the land area, which has changed as Whitesburg annexed additional territory. MarkWKidd (talk) 05:18, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

John Daugherty White reference to naming of Whitesburg is incorrect. White wasn't born until 1849, six years after the post office opened with the name "Whitesburgh."

It's possible it was named for White's uncle, John White, who was Speaker of the House of Representatives at the time the Whitesburgh Post Office was commissioned, but I have no evidence of this. Does anyone else have anythought? Letcherwater (talk) 16:28, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Kentucky Encyclopedia gives John Daugherty White as the namesake. The Kentucky Atlas and Gazetteer gives the namesake as Daugherty White, likely the same person.[1] Acdixon (talk contribs count) 16:05, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen those references, but "Political Graveyard" gives John Daugherty White's birth date in 1849 and the U.S. Postal service lists the founding of the post office as Whitesburgh Courthouse in 1843. It couldn't actually have been named for him. Letcherwater (talk) 19:33, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reasoning behind my revert

Had to revert User:JamesWiley's edits per WP:COATRACK. Does the user's edits mean a whole lot to the article's quality? I do not think so. Your thoughts??? Willking1979 (talk) 17:19, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
