Cleanup

[edit]

Added plot summary and more. Needs cleanup. Help appreciated.

If I work on this further I'd like the Plot summary to include the names of the cast, and all the various killings. I would prefer to avoid boring flat list for the cast, but with suitable references (not just wikipedia) came available there is probably potential to write a section on Casting mention things like olympic gymnast and Lara Croft model Alison Carroll or cult horror actress Emily Booth and other vaguely interesting background. I would very much like to keep references to Lesbian Vampire Killers and Shaun of the Dead, ideally the producers mentioning their influences would be better than the unfavourable comments from reviewers.

I have tried to avoid using the word zombie, it's sort of traditional and as far as I recall the film itself doesn't specifically say zombie. I have also tried to avoid mentioning the product placement but with a suitable reference it might almost be notable.

Critical reception will be poor. The reviews from the Guardian and the Irish Times are there only for starters and slightly more positive reviews will appear later I expect. Some reviewers will make the effort to note this film will appeal to a certain target audience - Danny Dyer has his fans, and although the Sun had an interview with him my quick search didn't turn up their review of the film.

The long plot summary is a problem I suppose and perhaps it could be shortened but having a detailed and descriptive cast list but it takes quite a bit of effort to do that well and unfortuntely many wikipedia articles end up with a boring list of cast and characters and it makes the plot summary much harder to follow if much of the same information is not also repeated in both sections so it's hard to do it really well. -- Horkana (talk) 19:16, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you didn't interpret the {{plot}} tag as a criticism of your efforts - that certainly isn't the case! Length is really the issue here; WP:FILMPLOT suggests a summary of between 400 and 700 words, while this plot summary has over 1400. If you haven't already seen it, WP:PLOTSUM can probably offer you better guidance than what I can. The best thing to do would be to go thorough it and try to remove any details that aren't necessary to an understanding of the plot (do we need to know that the van is painted "like the van from the A-Team" or about the "mummified penis"?). Hope that helps! PC78 (talk) 20:33, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wasn't taking it as criticism but was a bit short of ideas on how to do it better (a bit tired of the article after writing so much) and was also fishing for a bit of help having tagged the article for cleanup. Hadn't actually noticed the film plot guidelines until today, will have to read them I suppose. Admittedly there are details that could easily go but it's the cultural references like the A-Team van that I really like and it's damned hard to get them included in an article other than in the plot without some trigger happy deletionist wrecking all the fun. Since I've decided to include a cast list and expand that out I should be able to shorten the plot summary. I'll add it to my to do list. -- Horkana (talk) 00:32, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
