The book "L'émigration des Pyrenéens aux Amériques" authored by Pierre Accoce and published by Cairn, details the importance of the work done by Lafone to organize, promote and run the flow of emigration towards Uruguay and Argentina from the French regions of Gascony and Basque Country, as well as the neighboring Spanish Basque Country and also the Canary Islands. Lafone was enormously successful in this effort which contributed to the rapid expansion of both Uruguay and Argentina.
