- ... that in the 2016 US presidential election, Sanders-Trump voters amounted to more than twice Trump's margin of victory in three states? Source: NBC
- ALT1:... that Bernie Sanders voters who voted for Donald Trump may have caused Hillary Clinton's loss in the 2016 US presidential election? Source: Vox; note the word "may" in the hook which suggests it is one out of several possibilities

- Article created 1 day ago, new enough, long enough (14,000s bytes), hook short and interesting, QPQ done (on my DYK :), no image used. Main hook preferred due to ALT1 being WP:SYNTH a bit (US presidential elections de jure has more than two candidates) Regards, Jeromi Mikhael (marhata) 07:37, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
- Jeromi Mikhael, thanks for the review. Just a quick reminder: when measuring article length for DYK reviews, base the measurement on prose size, instead of the file size of the page. Installing a user script makes the process a lot faster. feminist (talk) wear a mask, you stupid bastards 14:40, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
- Throwing another hook out because this won't be promoted for now anyway. ALT2: ... that an estimated 12% of Bernie Sanders voters went for Donald Trump in 2016? feminist (talk) | free Thailand 15:54, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Jeromi Mikhael: could you review ALT2? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 17:17, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- I have read the above message. I will reply when I have a moment.Regards, Jeromi Mikhael (marhata) 00:14, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- We need a review of ALT2, which seems the least complex in terms of wording. Pinging evrik and Kingsif for help here. Yoninah (talk) 20:45, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
- Sourced and in article. The "went for" wording is probably clear enough, but any improvements on this by prep/queue builders would be appreciated. Kingsif (talk) 12:04, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote ALT2 but I wonder if it could be made clearer that the Sanders voters voted for him in the primaries and for Trump in the general election? Otherwise it seems logical to change the term

to avoid the "voters...voted" run-on. ALT2a: ... that an estimated 12% of Bernie Sanders voters in the 2016 presidential primaries went for Donald Trump in the general election?Yoninah (talk) 12:34, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

- REviewer needed for ALT2a. feminist (talk) | Americans, unite 04:25, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- Pinging Kingsif to check ALT2a. Thanks! BlueMoonset (talk) 20:03, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset and Yoninah: Can I suggest
- ALT2b: ... that an estimated 12% of those who voted for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 presidential primaries voted for Donald Trump in the general election? Kingsif (talk) 07:05, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
- Ticking 2b for approval. The wording really is better than 2a. — Maile (talk) 22:16, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

- ALT 2A is more preferable. Restoring tick.Regards, Jeromi Mikhael (marhata) 15:10, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
- It's unclear to me why ALT2a is more preferable, as
went for
isn't really encyclopedic. As Jeromi Mikhael says he has retired from Wikipedia, we need another opinion here. evrik or Maile, are you available? Yoninah (talk) 21:37, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

- I'm unclear about all of this. Yoninah your signature is on ALT2a. — Maile (talk) 21:54, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Maile66: Feminist suggested ALT2 and I added some more words as ALT2a. But when Kingsif came to review this new hook suggestion, he suggested ALT2b. I personally agree with ALT2b, as I don't think "
went for
" is encyclopedic language. I guess I'm looking for an approval tick for ALT2b so I can promote it, as I did not write the original hook suggestion. Yoninah (talk) 22:06, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

Why is this notable?
Given the number of Sanders voters who switched to Trump in the general election is unremarkable compared to previous elections, (eg, 15 percent of Clinton primary voters in 2008 voted for McCain in the general), why is this something that would require its own page when the pertinent details could easily be incorporated into the pages for the 2016 and 2020 election pages? 209.122.210.129 (talk) 06:09, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
Has to be merged with some other article(s) because it's not important enough
