References
[edit]This page has no reliable references. The only reference cited is the author's blog page, which exists to promote his book. I have removed three of the four separate references to this blog as being superfluous and unnecessarily promotional. The article needs reliable and independent sources. - 4 years later the situation isnt dramatically improved. few references (University of Boston and Delaware as "secondary sources", although these University publications have primary character, trying to sell their teacher to the public. Enormous craving for media exposure coming across on the page--Wuerzele (talk) 06:25, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
copy right vio?
[edit]The section carreer is almost complete lift from the reference ( U del).--Wuerzele (talk) 06:27, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- I couldn't find a single sentence from the Wikipedia section in the UDaily article. Most of information isn't even touched on in the UDaily article, for example UDaily does not contain the words "Bachelor" (i.e. his Bachelor of Science degree), "Wilmington" (i.e. his tenure at Wilmington Trust Company), "Banknorth" (i.e. his tenure at TD Banknorth), "Pacific" (i.e. his work at Pacific Gas & Electric), "Brattle" (i.e. his work with Brattle Group"), or Appleton (i.e. his work with Appleton Partners).
- Both the section and the UDaily article mention his Master's degree. UDaily says "He earned a master's degree in finance from Boston University in 1993." Wikipedia says "In 1993 he earned a Masters of Business Administration from Boston University and joined the Federal Reserve Bank as an examiner in Boston and San Francisco."
- Both cover his work at Citizens Power, and 2002 hiring at BU. UDaily says "He later joined the Boston-based trading company Citizens Power and in 2002 the finance faculty at Boston University." Wikipedia section says "One year later he joined Citizens Power LLC, a Boston based energy trading company, and became Senior Vice President, Head of Global Risk Management. Since 2002, he has been on the faculty of Boston University as Executive-in-Residence/Master Lecturer."
- While they cover the same basic facts, this does not constitute a copyright violation. I'm removing the copyvio template.
mischievous SEO
[edit]This page is the first search result on google for "Professor Bitcorn". That's mildly amusing, although it was one of the more relevant results, so maybe all is well. 99.58.57.1 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 05:57, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- In case anybody wonders, this nickname originates from his slip of tongue on 29/01/2014 at New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) Virtual Currency Hearings : "...has morphed bitcorn... coin itself into a virtual high-risk speculative commodity". Shcha (talk) 16:48, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
- This is in no way "mischievous SEO". I actually question why it isn't in the paragraph about Bitcoin criticism, that he is indeed referenced "Professor Bitcorn" by the Bitcoin community. LinguistManiac (talk) 15:10, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
