Although the definitions vary in regard to which states are properly considered part of the "Southeast United States" region, I thought it might be helpful to attempt to organize schools that are within states almost all definitions place within the Southeast: Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Many people surprisingly have a lack of knowledge about the numerous law schools in this region, so this might be helpful. I was not sure whether I should include Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina, which might not be considered Southeastern states.

inclusion of schools

[edit]

In reference to above, I'm not sure anyone in his or her right mind would exclude Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina from the Southeast. :) Frankly, I think you ought to add in Louisiana and Arkansas, as they're both properly in the Southeast.

More importantly, why are some schools included, but not others? For example, Category:Law schools in Alabama has five law schools listed, but only three show up on the template. Was that a conscious choice? Esrever (klaT) 20:17, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Since I finally made it back into my right mind, I've added Alabama, Tennessee, and NC.  ;) Louisiana and Arkansas are debatable, as neither is often included in the example definitions (see Southeastern United States). In regard to the fact that a few of the law schools are not included in the categories... I did not create the categories, just the templates then linked the categories. I'm glad you pointed that out though, and if I have a little time I will update those. Otherwise, if anything I was overinclusive, since in the templates I even included schools that do not yet have an article yet. Thanks for the feedback, please keep it coming. ballpointzen (talk) 22:44, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oh, I see. My apologies, I now see what you are referring to. Perhaps this will spawn another discussion -- I only included ABA-Approved Law Schools. ballpointzen (talk) 22:47, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Decided to add the non-ABA-Approved Law Schools. Otherwise the title of the template would be misleading. ballpointzen (talk) 23:04, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

By what definition would Puerto Rico be part of the Southeastern United States? That edit should probably be removed. Please start a discussion in this area before adding another state/territory. --216.0.119.186 (talk) 13:57, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
