Wayne Rooney was nominated as a good article, but it did not meet the good article criteria at the time (January 29, 2007). There are suggestions below for improving the article. If you can improve it, please do; it may then be renominated. |

2006 World Cup
There is no detail on Rooney's involvement in 2006 World Cup. I wil make a start on this Matt611 15:12, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Bob Fitzsimmons is the Great Great Grandfather of the Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney?
I was reading through the Bob Fitzsimmons article and came across this interesting information (if its true) theres no mention of it in Rooneys page maybe it should be added.--McNoddy 08:54, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
It is alleged that Bob Fitzsimmons is the Great Great Grandfather of the Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney though no proof has been found and it would be highly improbable. Fitzsimmons was born in Cornwall and before that his people were from County Armagh, Ireland. Rooney's ancestors, Fitzsimons(one M), were originally from County Cavan, Ireland. Source for "best mistake" quote
Rooney is quoted as saying his use of prostitutes was the "best mistake" of his life (in the Personal Life section). There should be a source for this if it's to stay in the article (the BBC news referenced at the end does not contain the quote). --89.234.99.92 21:20, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- I can find no other source for it either. I'm going to remove it. Bhamv 10:09, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
England template
Someone needs to update the England Squad part at the bottom, It still lists Eriksson as manager. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.38.105.169 (talk • contribs).
- For the 2006 World Cup, Eriksson was the manager. It lists the manager that led the squad for the competition. x42bn6 Talk 19:55, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Wayne Rooney Performance
I dont actually think that Wayne Rooney is performing as well as his other striker partners. I'll delete that comment.JFBurton 17:06, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
GA Nomination
I've currently put the nomination for GA status on hold. After I've had a brief look though the firstfour paragraphs almost entirely lack citations and some of the article is NPOV. I'll be honest I'm not certain that all the problems I've seen will be sorted that quickly but I'm happy to give you a chance. Drop me a line if you've any sepcific questions but give me a few minutes to mark the areas that need changes or [citation needed] markers. BigHairRef | Talk 16:45, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
FYI here's a list of what you need to do

It's a lot ot do before 29th but if you cant manage it I'm afraid I'll have to fail it. BigHairRef | Talk 13:59, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately all the above criteria still remain unsoved and therefore I'm afraid I'll have to fail the article. BigHairRef | Talk 17:35, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Favourite Rappers
Fucking hell, how many times, WAYNE ROONEY'S FAVOURITE RAPPER IS P.DIDDY, HENCE THE REASON HE HAS MET HIM AND PAID OVER £300K TO SEE HIM AT A GIG AND MEET HIM PERSONALLY. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.3.20.234 (talk) 22:45, 6 March 2007 (UTC).
- Cite? Frankly there's a hell of a lot of fancruft like this in this article which has no place in an encyclopaedia, and ought to be deleted anyway. -- Arwel (talk) 23:41, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- indeed so. I am still inclined to cut back all that overblown stuff about visits to prostitutes unless no-one has any objections (I've already mentioned this once) The Angel of Islington 09:24, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
GCSEs
In the article as it is now it states Wayne didn't receive a single GCSE - the text in the source says 'Coleen outscored him 11-0'. In this context it could just mean Coleen got higher grades than him in all their chosen subjects, it doesn't necessarily mean Rooney didn't get any GCSEs at all.
Either change the source to show that he infact didn't get a single GCSE.
Or...
Delete it.
Here's the footnote in question - #23 [2]]]
Biased!
Most of the people whoe edit this article are biased against Wayne Rooney-I don't know why when I put down factual astonishing things Rooney has done in his career someone removes it. I put down he is arguably the world's best young talent and you remove it yet on the Lionel Messi and Robinho articles one is allowed to put that down. I create a headline on Wayne Rooney's style of play and you remove it instead of researching on the particular headline. You are clearly biased and don't like Wayne Rooney-its one thing to try and be fair and give all views and sides to the article, but its another thing to focus on the negative of his career. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wikiaddict8962 (talk • contribs) 23:47, 9 March 2007 (UTC).

Semi-protected (again)
For the fourth time in the last 15 months I have semi-protected this article. The immediate trigger was the discovery that the heading on the infobox had been edited to "Wayne Marcus Rooney" (his middle name is Mark) and the volume of vandalism by non-signed-in editors recently has been such that this particular and very prominent vandalism was overlooked and allowed to stand for no fewer than 54 hours. Folks, it is time to recognise that this article is a vandal magnet, and it should remain PERMANENTLY semi-protected. -- Arwel (talk) 21:43, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- I am in favor of keeping it semi-protected for a very long time (e.g. a year). I can continue keeping an eye on the article, but the volume of vandalism is just too high. Gidonb 22:26, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
WHAT !

Real Madrid will sign Wayne Rooney for £45m if they don't sign Ronaldo
Hahahahahahaha! what a load of rubbish! Like he'd go to Real Madrid from Man United!
Number 10
Any truth to the rumors that Rooney will wear #10 next season? Over on the EA Sports FIFA Forums there's a link to an article which says that he'll wear 10. Batman2005 21:40, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
