Career

Ernesto Shaw (born January 8, 1975 in Jamaica, Queens, New York City, New York, USA), better known as DJ Clue, is a Mixtape DJ known for his involvement in the Mixtape circuit and for being one of the first DJ's to not mix songs in his mixtapes. He has two brothers, Justin and Christopher, who are located on Hillside Ave. He is signed as an artist on Roc-A-Fella Records. Clue is also known for dubbing both the song information and his name over each track on his mixtapes, usually in a distinctively echoed voice.

A native of Queens, New York, “Clue” became fascinated with the artistry of Hip Hop back in 1989, when he (then known as MC Drama) was the front man for a neighboring Queens rap group. It was in the mist of one of their intense practice sessions that Clue gazed over at his deejay’s turntables and immediately became enthralled - shortly after deciding that he’d rather add, subtract and multiply beats, and get the crowd’s undivided attention by making their eardrums dance to what he’s mixing. All it took was a pair of Linear-Tech DD 1700’s, two copies of Chic’s “Good Times” and heart to get started. Now, with a style as personal and established as his name, DJ Clue’s good times are indeed on the rise.[1]

Desert Storm

He also has his own record label Desert Storm Records. Rappers Fabolous, Ransom and Paul Cain are among the artists with Desert Storm Records.[citation needed] Recently, he has worked with The Game on his new mixtape/soundtrack called "Stop Snitchin', Stop Lyin", along with DJ Skee & Nu Jerzey Devil.

Remixes

Clue was hired to produce remixes of three of Mariah Carey's most recent and biggest hits: "We Belong Together", "Shake It Off", and "Don't Forget About Us". He subsequently had a featured DJ role in Carey's 2006 The Adventures of Mimi Tour. In 1999, DJ Clue produced the Heartbreaker Remix featuring Missy Elliott and Da Brat for Carey's '99 album Rainbow. He confirmed in a recent interview with Rashmi Shastri that he will be contributing tracks for Mariah's upcoming album, Rollercoaster, due in spring[1].

VJ

Clue used to be a VJ for MTV's Direct Effect, and was a radio jock for NY's Hot 97 on Monday from 12am-2am but resigned to join rival station Power 105.1 (WWPR-FM).
