Ryan Guno Babel (born December 19, 1986) is a Dutch professional football player. He is right footed and plays as a striker or a left winger. Since 2003 he has playedand s for AFC Ajax in the Eredivisie and since 2005 he has played for the Netherlands national under-21 football team and the Netherlands national football team.

Ryan Babel was born on December 19, 1986 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.[1] He has two siblings.[2]
Football career
Ajax
Ryan Babel made his Eredivisie debut on February 1, 2004 in AFC Ajax's 4-0 home win over ADO Den Haag.[3]
Babel is considered to be one of the greatest talents of the Netherlands, with Marco van Basten praising Babel as the next Thierry Henry.[4] Babel was linked with Arsenal and Newcastle United during the winter transfer window of the 2006-07 season.[5][6] Amidst the transfer speculation, Babel agreed to a new three-year deal with Ajax on February 2, 2007.[3][7] On the 9th of July 2007 it was widely reported that Liverpool had lodged a bid with Ajax for Babel. The players agent Weiner Haatrecht stated "I won't say anything about the amounts currently mentioned (6.75 mil), however I can confirm Ajax have received an official bid from Liverpool.", BBC Five Live Sport later stated that liverpool had lodged a 15m euros (£10m) bid, while ajax were holding out for nearer 20 million euros (£13.5m).
On July 9th 2007, it was reported that a bid of £10 million was made by Liverpool.[8]
Dutch national team
Babel has played 14 career games for the Dutch national team, scoring four times. He made his international debut on March 26, 2005, away against Romania as a substitute for Arjen Robben.[4] The Netherlands won the game 2-0 with Babel scoring the second goal. The goal made Babel the fourth-youngest player to score for the Netherlands.[4] Babel was also a member of the team that played at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
In June 2007, Babel was part of the Netherlands national under-21 football team competing in the UEFA under-21 Championships, which were also being hosted in the Netherlands. He scored a goal in helping them to secure a final spot and to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He scored his second goal for the Dutch in the final of the Championships as Holland brushed aside Serbia 4-1, retaining their title.
