Because of the nonexistence of the "year 0", this "decade" and its successor have only nine years each (year 0 does not exist in either the proleptic Gregorian calendar or Julian calendar). For other calendar systems, see year zero.
The year 1 of the Anno Domini era is the traditionally accepted year of Jesus' birth. The historical veracity of the claim is now frequently considered incorrect, and Jesus is thought to have been born a few years earlier.
