Glenn Anton "Doc" Rivers (born October 13, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American former professional basketball player from Marquette University who played point guard in the National Basketball Association notably for the Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, and San Antonio Spurs. After retiring from the league, he became a coach and is currently head coach of the Boston Celtics. Rivers was known for his defense while playing in the NBA. His skills as floor general and point guard helped him transition into a coach following his playing career.

Rivers took over the Boston coaching position in 2004 after spending a year working at the American Broadcasting Company as a commentator for The NBA on ABC. Prior to his job with the Celtics, he coached the Orlando Magic for more than four NBA seasons. Rivers won the Coach of the Year award during his years with the Magic.

His son Jeremiah Rivers is currently a freshman guard at Georgetown University. He has just graduate from WPHS in Winter Park, Florida.
