TUS-OAK / Map

Hey, I wasn't sure if I wanted to update the map yet but I will soon. The announcement for service to OAK was really out of the blue, I didn't know that Southwest was looking to add service. As far as the Route Map, I just got a map off of the internet and put the routes on using Paint. With the Terminal Map, I just scanned a copy of the terminal map on the TUS website and modified it.

National Airlines (N7)

I'm thinking they never flew to Reno. I just don't know how sure I am of that. Maybe the best choice is to revert as needing a reference. The logic being that if it was not there already, they probably did not fly there. Since they designed their routes to service Vegas and coast to coast via Vegas, Reno seems unlikely. XJET page

Hey, please check your facts when you edit the ExpressJet page. You have edited that thing incorrectly way too many times. If you don't know what you're talking about, just leave it alone.

TUS Pictures

Hey, I just added some new pictures to the TUS page since I had to go to TUS to say goodbye to my cousin. I took pictures of the welcome lounges, NW/B6 Ticketing, DL/AM Ticketing, and an Alaska Airlines 737.

Hope you like!

Mason

BTW- Is there too many pictures on that page?

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Frontier_Airlines_Route_Map.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Frontier Airlines Route Map.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Frontier Airlines Route Map.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 03:48, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By all means go right ahead! It's annoying having to change it back time after time. Thanks! :)--Ghettorichie01 20:04, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Focus City

While yes, it is a good point, many on aviation sites could make the point that Allegiants Hub is Las Vegas, whereas their Focus Cities are at SFB and PIE.

So your saying I can't change it at all? That seems a little much, I won't change the focus city/hub, but I would think if I find out about a new destination, I could change it as long as I have proof.

Sun Country @ TUS

Hello, It was confirmed that Frontier will be doing ground services for Sun Country Airlines so I assume Sun Country will be using gate 21 so I fixed everything up.

ExpressJet revert

I appreciate your concern in regards to the addition I made to the ExpressJet page and have modified it somewhat. However, since the section in question has garnered attention from major media outlets, I felt it was necessary to note it in an effort to expand the page. Wholesale deletion of entire sections really should be avoided until one has had an opportunity to discuss the section with the author. (In my instance, I can see that it might be a bit more difficult, since I only use an IP address.)

I have created a section for this on ExpressJet's talk page. If you'd like to discuss the section further, I welcome the discourse. However, I'd appreciate it if you would give authors the opportunity to defend their additions in the future.

Thanks! 70.159.43.66 16:16, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I didn't know about it either until today, and it didn't belong on the ExpressJet page anyway - my mistake. Thanks for the help! I've moved it to the Continental Express page. 70.159.43.66 16:54, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did see the notice at the bottom of the page, but because the photo has a copyright at the bottom of the image, I wanted to send you the above message. I did not tag the image for deletion, but just wanted to give you a fair warning because there is no explanation as to why or how a GFDL license was approved for the image, nor is there a talk page explaining the image's licensing. Also, consider cropping the image to remove the copyright notice at the bottom, because such images are not allowed on Wikipedia, and the notice will be relevant if releasing it under a GFDL license anyway. –Dream out loud (talk) 20:32, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding BWI - LOS flights by North American addition to Murtala Muhammed page.

The flights by North American Airlines from BWI to LOS is not a direct flight and hence should not be added as a destination of the airline from LOS. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ssublyme (talkcontribs) 09:48, 16 July 2007 (UTC-7)

I think its premature to add routes to a map that don't begin for several months, especially those that are still pending government approval. I'm thinking of Frontier's SAN-MZT service specifically. -- Hawaiian717 20:05, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It just seems to me to have an "as of..." date in the caption that is so far in the future. Unlike the list of airlines where it states explicitly that MZT starts Dec 15, there is nothing in the map itself that indicates that. It looks like you're using FlightMemory to create the maps and I haven't seen any way to change colors, but perhaps if the future routes were a different color? I'm really not sure what the best way to go is, really. I think a good rule of thumb is if an airline is selling tickets for a route then its ok to put on the map. Maybe we should post on the project talk page to get other opinions? -- Hawaiian717 20:20, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Pilot

Yup, I'm a pilot, and I'm surprised it took you looking at my user page to notice ;) lol. That's great that you want to learn to become a pilot! I goto Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, which is located in Daytona Beach, Florida. (There's also a campus in Prescott, Arizona) ERAU is one of the most well-known aviation related schools in the world. In fact, 25% of all american airline pilots have graduated from ERAU. It's sometimes known as the Harvard of aviation schools, but sometimes that sounds kind of cocky, lol. Of course, it comes with it's price ;), at about $40G/year for pilots, but it's worth it. Other top universities that provide aviation training are Daniel Webster College and University of North Dakota. If you wanna chat online at any time, im on Yahoo and AOL as pokerjunkie1000 and on MSN as pilot41187@hotmail.com. --Pilotboi / talk / contribs 04:39, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's not a stupid question. It's not the most common known degree, but it is called Aeronautical Science. It it sometimes refered to as Professional Pilot (especially at ERAU). At ERAU, it includes your flight training, simulator training, and ground training. Ground courses include your basic piloting skills, as well as multiple aeronautical-specific classes such as Turbines, Systems and Components, International Navigation, Flight Technique, FMS, Avionics, Metorology, and others. Of course, you also have to take the core classes, such as math, science (physics), language/communication-related, and some other stuff. Feel free to ask any other questions. --Pilotboi / talk / contribs 15:12, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Haven't heard anything about U of I. There are multiple schoos around the US that have an aviation program, which may differ drastically between schools. Four example, there are a limited number of programs that provide you with a full four year degree. I'm not sure what U of I has, but I'm sure if you ask for some info about it via their website or phone number, they'll send you tons of material about it. -Justin
That's great! Your score looks fine. That's not the only thing they take into account though. They also look at your GPA, extracurricular activities, references, and other info you put on your application. Speaking of whch, if you plan to apply, I recommend doing it soon. Early application cutoff is sometime in December of this year (for the Fall 2008 semester). If you get it in before then, you'll have a real advantage. For one, you have less competion. Second, you know way ahead of time that you're set for college. And third, you get a $500 grant each semester, for filing early. :) So if you can, get it in as soon as possible. Let me know how it goes and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. You can also IM me if you want. My screen names are listed above, in my first post. Trans States @ STL

I just went through two weeks' worth of OAG online timetables - there is not one single ERJ-145 shown as serving the STL-DEN market under the United code. It's all BloJets CRJ-700s and mainline 737s. FCYTravis 06:19, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And we're both right and both wrong. In one of the more bizarre scheduling quirks I've ever seen, Trans States ERJ-145s are flying as UAX DEN-STL, but *not* back from STL to DEN. Where on Earth are they coming in from? Maybe there's a magic Embraer factory at DEN :) FCYTravis 06:26, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Need Help updating old Wikiproject Aviation stuff

Hello Sox23, I think it is seriously time we start updating our old pages here at WikiProject Aviation. We need a new Collaboration of the month. Old Reviews need to be archived. And old Talk page comments need to be Archived. Feel free to help maintain Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation. Thanks Marcusmax 02:25, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove sources confirming start dates to international flights (before they begin), as you did to Melbourne Airport. It conforms to Wikipedia's reliable sources policy. 22:22, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Spam on LAS and VGT airport pages

Hey Sox23! Someone keeps spamming the LAS and VGT pages. What's the Wikipedia procedure in banning someone/preventing them from making changes? Check out the externam links section on the McCarran and North Las Vegas airport pages to see what I mean. Thanks for any help bro. --Ghettorichie01 17:49, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Qantas/LAX

QANTAS is now using a remote terminal for arrivals inot LAX —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 124.188.212.36 (talkcontribs).

Southwest Airlines

What I added in the Southwest Airlines article is true. I wrote that in my edit summary in that article. I have reverted the edits. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Threeonezero (talkcontribs).

Spirit Airlines

Please stop changing the Spirt Airlines page. The data you provide are inaccurate and inconsistent with the business model of the airline. You have posted a route map that was never released to the public, and use terms regarding the airline's operation that are outdated. Much of the data on this page is old and/or wrong. I suggest that you stop trying to update a page about a company for whom you have no direct knowledge. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Diemacher (talkcontribs).

Sox 23, stop changing! Spirit operates NO hubs -- hubs are about connecting and Spirit has less than 5% connecting traffic -- Southwest is over 35% connect by comparison. It also has no "focus cities" -- that is a legacy airline term that has no relevance in the ULCC world. All three airports (FLL, DTW, and ACY) should be simply termed "bases". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.251.157.172 (talkcontribs).

Also, there is no need to put detail about an MD80 fleet that is no longer part of the airline or even owned by the airline. The airline operated DC-9s, BAC-111s, and even more equipment through its history. The MD80s are gone and have no relevance to the airline. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.251.157.172 (talkcontribs).

Lastly, the aircraft are single class -- there is no two class cabin as you keep noting. The Big Freont Seat is not a class -- there is no divider between those seats and the rest, no flight attendant, no free drinks or snacks, no special check-in, etc., all features of "two class"). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.251.157.172 (talkcontribs).

Re Blocking Diemacher

No problem. However you prolly shouldn't put "you are in the process of being blocked" on the page. I've banned him for 48 hours (but I didn't tell him that, figure it's an added deterrent that way), but if he starts up again, report him and state that he did it after a previous block and we can reinstate it for a longer period. David Fuchs (talk) 19:08, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know it can be annoying, but please do not get into edit wars with other users. If he reverts you, you revert him, nothing gets done. Call in a thirdy party. David Fuchs (talk) 19:21, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: ATA Airlines

Hi Sox23. User:Dardani89 on the Tirana International Airport article has added ATA Airlines as a destination with service to JFK. That user also started a discussion on the article's talk page saying that ATA flies to JFK. I have deleted the entry and the user readded again. Bucs2004 00:57, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks! I have already deleted the entry from the article but you might want to look at the article's talk page. Bucs2004 01:00, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

You have been blocked for a short period for continually ignoring the three revert rule in regards to your edit war with Diemacher on Spirit Airlines. When your block ends, consider talking or mediation to resolve this dispute. David Fuchs (talk) 15:35, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

It appears you have been unblocked already. If you are affected by an autoblock, follow the instructions on the block notice.(nonadmin)

Request handled by: Navou banter 15:11, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Sox23. Sorry I'm not an administrator... if I was, I would unblock you myself. I just reviewed your edits, and it looks like you were trying to uphold the integrity of the Spirit Airlines article in good faith. This 48 hour block is borderline in appropriate considering you weren't even warned about it. How were you supposed to know you'd be blocked for removing what you thought was possible vandalism?!? I'll leave a note for Mr. Fuchs right now. Burntsauce 21:35, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Burntsauce- If I could say that on your talk page I would! Sox23 21:53, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In regards to your block... I probably should have warned you for violating the 3RR, however you tried to pass of Diemacher as a vandal, which he is not. He is in fact the CEO of Spirit Airlines, and is threatening legal action because you are adding incorrect information to the article. I don't know if it is or not, but you need to try dispute resolution for edit warring, which this case is. The article is protected: I am lifting your ban, however I expect that you immediately try and resolve this through proper channels. David Fuchs (talk) 22:20, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I will but I'm still blocked Sox23 22:23, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh... might still be an autoblock of an ip I have to find. I'll check. But still, mate, when you are continually reverting someone, there's generally something beyond simple vandalism going on. David Fuchs (talk) 23:03, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
According to WP:BP: The purpose of blocking is prevention, not punishment. The duration of blocks should thus be related to the likelihood of a user repeating inappropriate behavior. Since Sox23 wasn't actively reverting at the time of the block, and the editor with whom he was "edit warring" was blocked, why was it appropriate to block Sox23?
To whom it may concern: if you look over the edits to the article earlier, it looked like Diemacher was a vandal. He didn't appeal to reason and refused to listen to others and work within Wikipedia. If you look at it from that context, Sox23 was trying to prevent vandalism. I believe that his block was incorrectly applied, and should be stricken from the record if possible. If not possible, then I believe he should be forgiven. I was someone involved in what was happening, and it looked clearly like User:Diemacher was either a vandal or someone who was not willing to work with other editors and who only wanted his own way. Sox23 was blocked for reverting an editor who was permanently blocked as a vandal - clearly, an administrator other than David Fuchs agreed with Sox23. --Matt 00:27, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chicago/Rockford International Airport

Your recent edits to Chicago/Rockford International Airport include route map captions of "as of December 2007" (my bold). Since that date is 4 months in the future, are you sure that's the correct date to use? Maybe December 2006 would be more correct? Or maybe August 2007? We would appreciate it if you would reconsider the date. Thanks. Truthanado 00:32, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your explanation. All I asked was that you check the date, and you not only did that, you explained why you used it. Perfect! Thanks mate. Truthanado 00:37, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

Don't get discouraged, there's always alternatives and ways to move on, I've hit the breaking point four times in my three years here, this soon shall pass. As for it being hubs... as far as I'm concerned, the whole bit about less than 5% conencting traffic is total crap, working there I can tell you pretty much every flight out of FLL had like half the plane connecting... heck, even some flight numbers were through (807, 816, 259, 899, 407, 705) meaning they are like, Washington - Montego Bay, or LaGuardia - San Juan with a stop in Fort Lauderdale, sounds just like what any hub does, whether Spirit wants to classify it this way is different, but looking through their own website it clearly shows that that information given by the anon is flawed and you'll most likely win the argument until Spirit officially changes their information on their website, at which point then you wouldn't be wrong anyway because you've done nothing but follow the official posted company infomation whilst the anon/user is just adding unsourced information based off his or her own claims. As for the job, try Southwest for MDW, they'd most likely be hiring, once you get to the age contact me and I'll see if there's positions open at ORD with US. -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 06:03, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've responded to everyone's concerns at User talk:David Fuchs#Spirit Airlines. David Fuchs (talk) 14:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SkyValue

Skyvalue isn't a seasonal airline. It ended all service in May, and won't be back at Gary/Chicago ever. You need to source your infomation as well. So Quit vandalising these pages or you will be blocked from editing. Mw93 15:56, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you can source your information than thats fine but you haven't been doing that. QUIT VANDILISING AIRPORT AND AIRLINE PAGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS ANNOYING AND CHILDISH. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mw93 (Talkcontribs).

You have continued to vandilis various airlin pages including spirit airlines and soutwest airlins, and aports such at FLL. If you continue to vandalis you will be block. THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING. Mw93 16:12, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
