Link's Crossbow Training is a video game in development by Nintendo for the Wii video game console. It is to be bundled with the Wii Zapper peripheral, and is set for release in North America on the November 19, 2007, exactly one year after the Wii's release in that region.
Development
It was first announced that a game would be bundled with the Wii Zapper by Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America, on July 11, during Nintendo's E3 2007 media briefing.[2] Such a game was not revealed as Link's Crossbow Training until the GameStop Expo in September,[3] and was officially announced by Nintendo on the September 10, 2007.[1]
Gameplay
Link's Crossbow Training is set in a world in the style of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and in the game the player assumes the role of the protagonist of the Legend of Zelda series, Link.[1] In order to perfect his "crossbow marksmanship", the player must past a series of tests, starting with stationary bullseye targets, before moving onto moving targets, and later actual enemies.[1]
Game Modes
The game is separated into three known games modes [citation needed]:
- Target shooting – In this mode, the player will fire their crossbow at targets, which will be stationary initially but as the difficulty increases the targets will begin to move. The closer to the bull’s-eye that the player hits, the more points they will get. They will also increase their score with consecutive hits, similar to the shooting game in Wii Play.
- Defender – In this mode enemies will attack link from multiple angles, and the player will have to fight them off. Two scenarios have been announced thus far; one in which Link fights skeletons in Gerudo Valley and another which is reminiscent of a scene in Twilight Princess in which Link must protect a wagon from boar-riding Bublins.
- Ranger – This mode gives the player control over Link’s movement via the analogue stick on the nun-chuck within different scenarios, including laying siege on enemy encampments and fighting through a forest.
