Planet in Peril is a two-part, four hour documentary on CNN and CNN HD that premiered on October 23, 2007. CNN's Anderson Cooper, Sanjay Gupta and Animal Planet's Jeff Corwin investigate the current state of our planet, focusing on four major areas: global warming, overpopulation, deforestation and species loss. They report from a wide variety of locations including Brazil, Alaska, Madagascar and Southeast Asia, examining the effects of population growth, rising temperatures, and poaching, among others, on the global environment.

Controversy

There was some controversy when it was revealed that the special was sponsored by energy giant ConocoPhillips.[citation needed]
