Pnwk → Geiwteol
- Current name: Pnwk (talk · contribs · logs · block log)
- Requested name: Geiwteol (rename user)
- Reason: Broken username.(?!?) I requested a renaming a while ago. My username seems to have been changed only partially. The effect is that I still sign in with my old username. 'Geiwteol' doesn't appear on the userlist page, but look at my tiddlesighn: geitweol 16:44, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Antonio.sierra → Hamsterpoop
- Current name: Antonio.sierra (talk · contribs · logs · block log)
- Requested name: Hamsterpoop (rename user)
- Reason: For a bit more anonymity Xer0 23:01, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- Comment. Do you really think Hamsterpoop is a good choice of name? A lot of very juvenille vandals create usernames containing the word poop - I think some admins may even block these on sight as username violations. WjBscribe 23:06, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Clerk note: Names with "poop" in them are routinely blocked at WP:UAA and Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention/Bot. User:HBC NameWatcherBot also flags usernames with "poop" in them. -Jéské (Blah v^_^v) 01:04, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- I like the name. It's my user name in every other wikimedia project. I'm not a vandal and if
adminsbots are blocking people solely because their name has the word poop in it, then maybe we need to check the rules that are guiding saidadminsbots. Also, username violations should not be taken literally. The name that I am choosing is not offensive even though it says poop. Wikipedia is not censored and we must ensure that the spirit of the rules in the username violations article are respected, not the literal rule. --Xer0 06:29, 8 November 2007 (UTC)- Even still, it will get blocked, either by automation or manually. Rudget 19:14, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Why would it get blocked manually? I would like to report any admin that is willing to block an account solely on the basis of the username, considering the user has never gotten a warning of any sort and has helped out in many articles. Refer to username violations, to Wikipedia is not censored and also to Ignoring all rules - a beginners guide. Remember to Use your common sense over anything else. I edit in Wikipedia in spanish and english, wikisource spanish and english, wikibooks spanish and english, wikiquote spanish and english and wikinews; most with the username Hamsterpoop. I am trying to make it easier for myself to work but you guys are being unreasonable. If rules make you...not desirous of participating in the Wiki, then ignore them and go about your business. Let's not drown in a glass of water; this isn't a big issue. It would be a shame if I had to create the account Hamsterpoop and have all my contributions disappear. --Xer0 22:23, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- If more info is needed, refer to wikipedia is not a bureaucracy. Also, here is a search for names that start with poop: [list]. --Xer0 22:32, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- If you do get renamed to this by a crat, I'll keep an eye on you to make sure you don't get username-blocked. -Jéské (Blah v^_^v) 23:11, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- That wouldn't stop a bot-block, though, would it? And even so, you may not be around when a block is applied. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 23:37, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Bots can't block; they can only flag. And even if he does manage to get blocked, I'll point out the facts he's stated above and unblock him. I believe that, in this case, WP:IAR should apply if he's using Hamsterpoop in other Wikis without incident. -Jéské (Blah v^_^v) 02:58, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Jéské. --Xer0 00:56, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Bureaucrat note: I'm not renaming you to something with poop in. We routinely block usernames with poop in. Come up with a better name if you want to be renamed. Secretlondon 22:36, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe you should stop routinely blocking usernames with certain words in them. If you are going to take on the task of fighting vandalism and inappropriateness, evaluate the situation and actually consider whether what you are doing benefits or hurts the project. I can't stress this enough, please refer to wikipedia is not a bureaucracy. I do not want to make a big deal of this, but I do not want this to be set as a prescedent on censorship in Wikipedia. The name is not offensive to anybody and you are mistakingly following literal rules instead of protecting their meaning and spirit. --Xer0 00:56, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Just my 2c-worth. This discussion with regard to "poop" would be meaningless in the UK because it is not there used as a synonym for excrement, in fact its most common usage there is in "poop deck" which is part of an old sailing ship and nothing at all to do with defecation. Far be it from me to suggest an American bias here, but it seems to be long-settled policy on WP that usernames should not contain that particular sequence of characters- presumably to prevent 11 year-olds from giggling uncontrollably and their parents from tutting. Perhaps if you chose HamsterMist instead that would be acceptable here (but not in the German WP, because "mist" in German means "dung"). Either way, I think the lines here have been clearly set out and I'll say no more on this topic because it seems that the debate is going round in circles. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 01:11, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I'll retract the poop-deck comment. But ther term is widely used in the UK in "poop scoop", a small shovel for collecting dog mess and commonly available from, and advertised by, local Councils. But you get my point. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 01:20, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- That's what bugs me. That rule (Usernames that offensively include slurs, or references to reproductive or excretory bodily functions) was probably put there to avoid words like shit, cum, etc and that's why I think that this is a poor interpretation of the rule. Hamsterpoop does not include the word poop offensively. What if I wanted to name myself Go.#2? This could be a reference to excrement but nobody would say it is offensive. I continued this discussion
herehere to avoid creating a mess in this page. --Xer0 22:31, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
