Orgazmo is a 1997 comedy-action film by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the animated series South Park.
- Tagline: Making sex safe again!
Plot
The film revolves around mild-mannered Mormon missionary Joe Young (Trey Parker), who gets talked into starring in a porno movie by the famous porn director Maxxx Orbison (Michael Dean Jacobs) in order to earn enough money to marry his fiancée Lisa (Robyn Lynne Raab), in the Salt Lake City temple.
In the movie-within-the-movie, he plays a superhero named "Orgazmo" who fights crime with his sidekick "Choda Boy", played by Ben Chapleski (Dian Bachar) using his signature weapon, the "Orgazmorator", a device that forcefully triggers climax in those he uses it on. Following an agreement with the director, Joe acts and fights while a "stunt cock" does the rest. Orgazmo goes on to be a smash hit, and the director decides to exploit the missionary and make the movie into a series. Joe's fiancée is upset at his role in the film and leaves, and is kidnapped by the director to ensure Joe's participation in further filming.
Joe then decides to fight back using a real Orgazmorator invented by Ben, and actually gains the powers his character purportedly had. He uses these powers to bring down the corrupt film-maker and reunite himself with his fiancée.

Trivia
This article contains a list of miscellaneous information. (December 2007) |
- The movie was actually shot and completed in 1996.
- In the party scene, Mr. Garrison's voice (from South Park) can be heard.
- In the scene in the video store (the one when Lisa finds out that Joe has been doing porno films), the first shot shows the top row of a movie section. Contained in this row are all movies by Troma Studios. Troma owns the rights to Trey Parker's first film, Cannibal! The Musical (1996). Parker has also noted Troma as inspiration for his style of filmmaking and for South Park (1997). Lloyd Kaufman, the founder of Troma, makes a cameo appearance at the end of the film as the doctor who operates on Maxxx Orbison's testicles.
- When Lisa first enters the video store, a scene from Cannibal! The Musical can be seen on the TV.
- When Lisa is looking through the video store, under "Epics", the videotapes are as follows, in this order: Birth of Jesus; Jesus of Nazareth; Jesus the Healer; Jesus of Nazareth (again); Jesus Scissorhands; Pulp Jesus; The Good, the Bad, and Jesus; and Raging Jesus.
- T-Rex's voice is dubbed by an uncredited Trey Parker. The same is true for Maxxx Orbinson's employee who is on the phone when Sancho comes in.
- Most of the bad guys are named after people with the first name Roy: Maxxx Orbison is named after Roy Orbison; Rodgers is named after Roy Rogers; Ron Jeremy's character, Clark, is named after Roy Clark; and A-Cup is a take-off on the name Roy Acuff.
- The clips from the movie that are seen playing in the video store were taken from a fake trailer for the film, made by the filmmakers before production ever started, which was shown to potential financial backers to try to raise money to make the film. (This is discussed in the "drunken commentary" feature on the DVD).
- The "drunken commentary" feature on the DVD also explains the rules for the "Orgazmo drinking game", which involves taking a shot when the words "Jesus", "Heavenly Father", or "Orgazmo" are said by the characters in the film.
- The comic book pictures shown are actually reproductions of classic comic book moments with heroes like Superman, Spider-Man, and Captain America replaced by Orgazmo.
- Trey Parker and Matt Stone had originally intended for the film to be a musical, like their previous film, Cannibal! The Musical. Unfortunately, they had trouble enough finding investors for the unusual story of Orgazmo on its own, so that idea was dropped.
- In latter episodes of the T.V. Show South Park, what appears to be an Orgazmo poster appears on the door of Eric Cartman's bedroom.
- In The Spirit of Christmas, a short animated film, when Santa and Jesus are fighting, Santa's attack misses Jesus and hits Kenny. Kenny's head flies off and hits a statue of Orgazmo[citation needed], which then falls and crushes three children.
- In Australia, Orgazmo was given the R-rating.
- A framed poster of Raekwon's "Only Built for Cuban Linx" is visible on a wall in the Fresh Sushi Bar.
