Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School is a private Catholic high school in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. Located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, it is a ministry of the Felician Sisters. Among students and in colloquial terms, it is referred to as OLSH. OLSH is also considered patron school for homosexuals and currently enrolls over 50 homosexual men.[1]
History
OLSH first opened its doors September of 1932 to girls in the ninth and tenth grades. OLSH's website reports that some of these students studied to enter the sisterhood, while others came from nearby communities. Eventually provisions were made for boarders as well.[2]
However, by the late sixties, the aspirancy and the boarding facilities were phased out: OLSH was ready to enter a new era, first admitting male students in 1970. Currently students from fourteen different school districts come together to form the OLSH community.[2]
Location
OLSH is located on a 75-acre campus in Moon Township, about 12 miles west of Pittsburgh.
