A potential chat session with Bill Oakley

We at the Simpsons WikiProject have managed to get into contact with the one and only Bill Oakley (who showran The Simpsons from season 7 to 8) and he has agreed to send us some images and to do an IRC chat in the future with us so that we can ask questions about things that we can use in articles. The transcript of this chat will hopefully be posted at NoHomers.net, which I think will be a good enough sorce. Failing that, we'll try The Simpsons Archive. Every member is more than welcome to take part, which will be held at our #wpsimpsons channel. Because not everyone will be able to make the chat, a page has been made where any member can post questions that can be asked. Remember, no fan questions, and due to a lack of time, try to limit it to ones that will help improve an article. That page is here. If you have any questions, ask myself, Xihix (who is the one in contact with him) or post it at WT:DOH, which is where any future updates will be posted. -- Scorpion0422 02:56, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please make the fixes, and remove the tags, after making such fixes, as suggested. Thanks. Bearian (talk) 18:15, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Work in progress, Fictional places of Eddings, would you help

Hello Adolphus79...Would you be interested in helping with an article/list about the fictional places of the works of the Eddings that I am currently writing in my user space? I really don't know what to do with it, but if you were willing to help me with it, that would be great! If no one thinks it is worth it, I will just get rid of it. Pop on over if you want. - LA @ 06:31, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Adffactsandfictions.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Adffactsandfictions.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 15:31, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

August

Earlier you reverted a change to the August page. In fact the change was correct. The page clearly states Augustus did not steal the days from February. If you read through the given link you will find out the page does in fact state Sacrobosco's theory regarding the months length was proven wrong (see below).

edit: no offense though :)

The Julian reform set the lengths of the months to their modern values. However, a 13th century scholar, Sacrobosco, proposed a different explanation for the lengths of Julian months which is still widely repeated but is certainly wrong.

No problem, like I said in the edit summary, change it back if I was wrong... ;) Adolphus79 (talk) 22:50, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Rhode Island

Sorry if I was snippy about the citation, but I figure that a citation to a web link would take only a minute, and removes any future questions about notability or not. Plazak (talk) 22:46, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem... like I said, I should have just been bold enough to start the damn article myself... ;) - Adolphus79 (talk) 22:54, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Black Starfish

Salted it. --Orange Mike | Talk 02:08, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

until he moved it to Black Starfish Band... LOL - Adolphus79 (talk) 02:11, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You

I just wanted to thank you for welcoming me. ToddSweeney (talk) 21:23, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for removing the duplicate {{reflist}} I used for previewing Principality of Trinidad. I'm usually good about removing them before saving. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 20:25, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem... I figured it was just an oversight on someone's part... - Adolphus79 (talk) 21:00, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You

Hello, Adolphus79! I have received your June 7th welcome message on My Talk page welcoming me to Wikipedia. That was very kind and sincere of you. So far, I have enjoyed Wikipedia pretty well and I am still adapting to it. If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat with me, please feel free to contact me. Thank you. :-)

I'm sorry, I saw the blanking of a section, and was reverting that. I realized my mistake directly afterwards (note: no vandalism warning message on your talk page). Feel free to change it back. Happy editing... - Adolphus79 (talk) 20:32, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User page

I've semi-protected your user page again, but this time without expiration. If at any point you want it unprotected, just let me or another administrator know. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:24, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you again... I don't know who this person is, they don't seem to have the guts to let me know who they are or how I offended them. It's one edit to my user page, then switch IPs. I don't mind if the page stays protected permantently, if it will keep this childish behavior under control. - Adolphus79 (talk) 20:50, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What makes you say that this is vandalism ? Do you know the language used ? Cenarium Talk 21:17, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry if I overreacted on this. I didn't see how it could be classified as vandalism. Cheers, Cenarium Talk 21:57, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did not mark it as vandalism, I added the original db-nonsense, then when you removed that, I added the notenglish tag... - Adolphus79 (talk) 22:31, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see what happened, when I went to add the notenglish tag, you had removed another editor's db-vandalism, and added the notenglish yourself, then my edit overwrote yours and put the db-vandalism back... I should have noticed that myself, sorry... - Adolphus79 (talk) 22:32, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see, I should have considered this based on your edit summary. Cenarium Talk 22:56, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
no worries, it happens sometimes... happy editing... - Adolphus79 (talk) 22:57, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comedy Clubs

Why did you delete my post about Takeout Comedy? It is the first and only fulltime comedy club in Asia. Gchuva (talk) 07:07, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have created a stub for Takeout Comedy to show that they are worthy of wikipedia. Gchuva (talk) 09:59, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article you started was about a comedy club that was found to not be notable enough to warrant an article. I did not delete the article, I do not have the ability to do so. As far as the list on Comedy clubs goes, the comment stated to only add clubs that are notable. Since your club was found to not be notable, it should not be on the list. Do not take offence to this, there are a lot of people and places that do not pass the guidelines at WP:NOTE... - Adolphus79 (talk) 14:17, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The stub has stayed up so far. Do a search for takeout comedy and you will see it. Can we add it back to the list of comedy clubs? 116.48.49.113 (talk) 00:04, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you moving for speedy deletionGchuva (talk) 00:16, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

it had already been deleted a couple times... recreating deleted content is against Wikipedia policy... but I really don't care anymore, you're going to do what you want whether I think it's right or not... - Adolphus79 (talk) 00:20, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recreating deleted content without addressing the problems is against the policy. I think I addressed the notability problem. What can I do to remove the speedy deletion tag? I actually do care what you think and want to follow the guidelines. How can I address your concerns?Gchuva (talk) 00:23, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the tag... happy editing... - Adolphus79 (talk) 00:25, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Gchuva (talk) 00:29, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

I would like to say thanks too. I appreciate you allowing me time to acclimate myself to the Wikipedia system. For the Horde!

Chemchris (talk) 15:58, 26 June 2008 (UTC)chemchris[reply]

bah... you didn't mention you were horde... now I'm gonna have to make sure it gets deleted! :P
that aside, you're welcome... feel free to leave me a message here if you ever need help with anything... - Adolphus79 (talk) 16:01, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I meant 'For the Alliance!'

/sigh .... there goes my page.....

Chemchris (talk) 16:14, 26 June 2008 (UTC)chemchris[reply]

hehe... no worries... but you may want to consider writing the article for the entire class of software, not just that specific brand... - Adolphus79 (talk) 16:16, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

66.93.253.248 (talk) 21:59, 30 June 2008 (UTC) I think I will, I just need to do some more research. Is there a more technical reference guide for the wiki code/formatting?[reply]

Thanks for your help

I just started, so I don't know much about editing. Thank you for helping me on editing my user page.Sadik82 (talk) 23:36, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

no problem, feel free to ask me here if you need any help in the future... happy editing... - Adolphus79 (talk) 23:49, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In response to what I hope wasn't rhetorical

Not really. But it feels like proper process to inform someone when it seems like there's even a chance that they legitimately don't understand, rather than that they're simply being deliberately disruptive or beligerant. Not to say they can't be both, of course. If they make any effort to communicate on the issue, I think it's best to explain WHY what they're doing is wrong, not just tell them that it IS wrong. I'm not trying to say you've not done that or anything. I mean, the speedy deletion warning template explains it pretty clearly. - Vianello (talk) 06:05, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

well, I started with the speedy and a warning... but not wanting to bite the noob, I followed up with the message on both the article's and the user's talk pages... then I figured I should just help him and show him what I was talking about... hopefully he gets the idea and doesn't take offence to it, I thought I explained pretty peacefully... - Adolphus79 (talk) 06:08, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Shoot, I think I misunderstood what you meant. You meant YOUR comment on his talk page (which I didn't notice until just now), didn't you? Well, most of my comment still stands for that case anyway. You're being about as diplomatic as can really be expected, I think. Whether or not it actually works/helps is up to him. - Vianello (talk) 06:12, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I guess my original statement on your talk could have been a little more concise... what I should have written was 'do you think the messages and the move will fix this situation?'... that will teach me to stay up and edit at 2 in the morning... oh well... happy editing... - Adolphus79 (talk) 06:16, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
