Apology

the article I edited about Ryane Clowe I apologize for the false information. It did say on TSN though he had signed with the Canucks but I guess it was minor bug with tsn.

Sidney Crosby

10:39, 31 January 2008 IrisKawling (Talk | contribs) (32,867 bytes) (→Career statistics: approximating stats? surely that qualifies as unreferenced)

I'm not sure why it would qualify as unreferenced - it came from the Halifax Daily News. It's important to get a sense of what a prolific scorer Crosby was even as a little kid. Nobody knew that he'd be a superstar when he was that young, obviously, so they didn't keep track of every point he scored in Peewee hockey.

Conference standings

All modifications I have made to any of the NHL Standings template are done via a sort of automated process. I have an excel sheet that imports the NHL Standings from ESPN and formats the standings in such a way that all I have to do is copy/paste the data. I did not know that a change to the format had been done. My edits were by no means a revert, just that I had not had those two lines of code formatted with the color code and table data. I have now modified my code as such so that it will be in the same format listed. if you make any code modifications for some better ideas to view the data, please leave a message on my talk page, or on the talk pages so that I will notice and make these changes. My apologies. Hopefully the update I just performed corrected those issues. --Pparazorback (talk) 22:55, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ALIGN="center"

Hello, I’m just wondering why you re-added ALIGN="center" to the table rows here. I thought style="text-align:center;" did the job, and I’ve checked it with in IE7, Firefox and Opera. —LOL (talk) 01:49, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gotcha. I noticed that you left some of the alignment markup in the table after your initial cleanup edit, so I’ve removed them again (here in case you’d like to check it over). —LOL (talk) 01:59, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gretzky

Hi IrisKawling,

I have nominated a Wayne Gretzky image at Featured picture candidates that I believe you were involved in uploading. Thought you may be interested and want to drop by for a look at the nomination. --jjron (talk) 10:17, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Greenpoint

Hello - I would like to stop the editing war going on the Greenpoint Brooklyn page. I realize there is a post that you may find offensive. However, a majority of the items on the site have to do with Greenpoint and the blog is written by a native of the neighborhood giving an authenticity to it that other blogs do not have. I do not feel it is fair and/or appropriate to remove the external link to greenpointers based on one post.

Thank you.

Greenpoint

Alright understood. Then the other blog there should also be deleted - 11222. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Whirlygurly (talkcontribs) 03:36, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY.

Notes
  • More editors are needed to help out with the newsletter. The newsletter creator doesn't have an infinite nor perfect supply of ideas, and thus he might omit some interesting news.
  • Portal:Ice hockey is being considered for featured status.
  • Should Chris Pronger have been suspended for more than eight games for stomping on Ryan Kesler? Vote here!
  • Help Patrik Stefan -- one of the greatest NHL draft busts -- become a GA status article.

Bogus claim in Led Zeppelin article

Iris, The section on allegations of plagiarism makes a claim on the original album review by John Mendelsohn for Led Zeppelin I. The wikipedia article avoids referencing the Rolling Stone article in question. After searching on the internet I've managed to find the original Rolling Stone review:

http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/ledzeppelin/albums/album/103294/review/18835333/led_zeppelin_i

The wikipedia article then states:

"When Led Zeppelin's debut album was released, it received generally positive reviews. However, John Mendelsohn of Rolling Stone magazine criticised the band for plagiarising music, notably "Black Mountain Side" from Bert Jansch's "Blackwaterside" (though Jansch himself acknowledges the song as being traditional) and the riff from "Your Time Is Gonna Come" from Traffic's "Dear Mr. Fantasy". He also accused the band of mimicking black artists, and showing off. This marked the beginning of a long rift between the band and the magazine, with Led Zeppelin rejecting later requests for interviews and cover stories as their level of success escalated."

If you read the Rolling Stone article and compare it with the above quote, it's quite obvious the claims made in the Wikipedia article appears to be bogus. Nowhere in his review does he even mention Jansch or Traffic by name or the word plagiarism. Someone appears to have made some false attributions on the current Wikipedia article to Mendelsohn. It needs to be removed. MegX (talk) 22:59, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Iris. Would you add Straka's signing with a Czech team into, to his page? GoodDay (talk) 22:28, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would you update Straka's page, with the NHL's confirmation of his depature? GoodDay (talk) 22:40, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nah! It appears the Rangers have cut him adrift. GoodDay (talk) 22:45, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

TSN has confirmed it today (Straka signing with a Czech club). GoodDay (talk) 19:21, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
