The Sims 2: Double Deluxe is a Simulation Video game produced by Maxis. The game is available for the Computer and acts as an special edition version of the game as it comes with The Sims 2 and two expansion packs, The Sims 2: Nightlife and The Sims 2: Celebration Stuff. A DVD is also featured in the box as a Bonus because it provides tips and tricks on how to play the game and shows interviews with the makers. The game is rated, like The Sims 2 12+ for Teens because is involves Crude Humour, Sexual Themes, and Violence.

The game can also be expanded with other expansion packs such as The Sims 2: University.

Gameplay

The Gameplay of The Sims 2: Double Deluxe is the same as The Sims 2. The main concept of the game is to produce a life for your selected family, making it either 'A long successful life or a rain of misfortune'. Just like The Sims 2 you control the Sim and can make them do similar things in real life.

Needs

As you control a sim, their Needs have to to be filled. For example if a Sim needs to take a Bathroom break you click on the toilet, if one has been inhabited in the household, and a venue appears and you must choose what available action you want your sim to take. There are eight basic motives every sim has, babies only have 6 and toddlers/children have 7. If you fill a motive the bar fills up with green which means they have been satisfied, whether for a long period of time, or not. The basics motives are, Hunger, Hygiene, Energy, Comfort, Bladder, Social, Fun, and Environment. If a Sim has neglected a need long enough, they go into a Needs Failure in which something happens to the Sim, whether they have an embarrassing accident, or fall on the floor asleep.

Wants and Fears

Every Sim has Wants that need to be filled and Fears that you need to avoid (unless you want your sim to have a bad life). Every Sim has different wants depending on their Turn On's and Off's and their Aspiration. If you complete a want they earn aspirations points which can be used to purchase helpful items. A completion of a want also contributes to the Aspiration Meter which is how the Sims is doing in life. The higher an apsiration, the better the Sim is doing and then they can use an aspiration reward.

Aspirations

The Sims 2: Double Deluxe has 6 aspirations and 1 secret one. The aspirations are:

- Pleasure Aspiration

- Family Aspiration

- Romance Aspiration

- Knowledge Aspiration

- Wealth Aspiration

- Popularity Aspiration

- Grilled Cheese Aspiration (Secret) With these aspirations, certain wants and fears come into play. - Pleasure: WANT Eat out, FEAR Have a bad date

- Family: WANT Have baby, FEAR Break up

- Romance: WANT Woohoo in Public/Bed/Other, FEAR Be rejected for woohoo

- Knowledge: WANT Gain a logic skill point, FEAR Lose a skill point

- Wealth: WANT Get a job, FEAR Get Fired
