Nationality

I'd like to ask from all the users not to change Ninis' nationality. This kid was born from Greek immigrants in Northen Epirus (the southern part of what we call "Albania" in which many Greeks live since antiquity) and then he came in Greece. This means although he possess an Albanian passport, he has the Greek nationality (the past days the Greek government decided to give him a new Greek passport). See the cited sources BEFORE you decide to change something again. And if you decide to change something, please cite it first.--KaragouniS 23:53, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please change Northern Epirus to Southern Albania then. No such thing exists in modern maps. 151.202.92.127 03:30, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In this link, the president of the Hellenic Football Federation (Vasilis Gagatsis) says about Ninis: When Albanian FA called him to play for them, Ninis rejected their offer and said that he wants to play for his country, meaning Greece because he was born, lives and plays football here. As a result, Ninis will be reffered as Greek from now on.--KaragouniS 13:07, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It makes perfect sense to refer to him as a Greek, since he self-identifies as a Greek. What's more, there's no question that he comes from a region of Albania which has a large Greek minority. However, calling that region Northern Epirus is not appropriate in an international encyclopedia. That term is closely associated with irredentist claims on the region. Wikipedia's policy is to use the historically appropriate names for places; when Ninis was born, it was clearly Albania, and not the Byzantine Empire, the Ottoman Empire, or Greece. If there are quotes of Ninis talking about his birthplace as "Northern Epirus", that is another matter -- it would be reporting on his own perspective on the matter. --Macrakis 23:07, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know that this guy hesitated but has finally chosen this nationality under his parents decision to have a better life.In fact,Greek people living in Albania are very small minority and they often refuse albanian nationality but he kept it.And his real name is Sotir Nini wich has albanian orthodox assonances.Because there are orthodoxe also in albania in case you don'know it.In the other hand there are around 700 000 ALBANIANS in Greece but around 400000 are autochtones.

You have no right to alter a page just because you don't like what it says. Sotiris Ninis is an GREEK IMMIGRANT from northern epirus and you cannot change it. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and NOT a fan forum so please don't do the same thing again.--KaragouniS 21:06, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sotir Nini is an albanianboy.Greeks always agree to refer people like greek when they have talent and give a good image but when they are criminals they become Albanian. If he were greek Albanian would never be fan of this gyuy and would never be so attached to him.His blood is albanian and if the greece couldn't find talented player it is its problem. And i don't why you are so attached to an albanian player when we know that albanian peoplê are bad accepted in the greek society apart when they are great footballers with greek nationality. In conclusion Sotir Nini is ALBANIAN but greece is lucky that he has the double nationality and i will rechangee this article because I am from KOSOVA and I love my albanian nation.

Ninis father said he is an GREEK IMMIGRANT, not me. Please stop playing with the page and find something else to do. --KaragouniS 18:26, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

People tells a lot of srupid lies for money!I don't play with this page,Ijust tell the truth and i will continue untill people will understand the reality.

no you are not telling the truth. If you continue vandalizing pages, you will be banned from Wikipedia.--KaragouniS 21:17, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So just tell me why don't you want me tio tell the truth, why do you use extremist therms like(Northern Epirius) and tell me who you are to ban me from wikipedia. You are the man vandalizing the page. And if you are so convinced that he has greek origins,do you agree to come with me and to ask this young boy about his origin.

Well, I won't ban you (actually I can't do it and I never had such intentions) but you should know altering a page without adequate source IS CONSIDERER AS Vandalism and vandals are banned. So I'd like you to stop it or else I'll inform the administrators.--KaragouniS 21:41, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have you got adequate sources! And why do you use the therm "Northern Epirus"!I think you are like this racist greek soldiers who offensed albanian people. yYour sources are not unpartial so they cannot be considered.

Ok i had enough of you. I'll inform the admins.--KaragouniS 21:55, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have no interest in sports, so I don't know anything about this Ninis fellow's particular history. However, it is pretty clear to me that the term "Northern Epirus" is an irredentist term which is not used internationally and is offensive to Albania. Karagounis, you have got to stop. Secondly, content disputes are not considered vandalism. Editing pages without adequate sources is not a good thing, and it is always better to have good sources, however it is ludicrous to claim that it is vandalism. Karagounis, you should stop making silly threats. --Macrakis 01:16, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Karagunis is the typical moron who didn't get a passing grade in history. That there are 1 million recent Albanian immigrants in Greece and millions of Arvanitas (native Albanians of Greece) this can be verified by reviewing the Library of Congress references of the CIA factbook. Sotir Nini is one of the dozens of pure ethnic Albanians of Albania who self-proclaim to be Greek for a better life. Like Pirro Dhima, Gjergji Kone, Elen Dhimuco, and the entire Greek national team of weightlifting. These guys have no connection to Greece, no ancestry, no language. They are Albanians who don't have self-respect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.188.88.29 (talk) 04:05, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mate,1st of all you are the person who doesn't know history.2nd there arern't millions of arvanites but only about 200000 people.3rd you talked about some athletes...Some of them are albanians like Kone,Dhimucho, panionios' Albi Konti,Mirella Maniani and Sava Lika etc BUT some of them like Ninis and Dimas are albanian citizens but also ethnic Greeks...193.92.148.194 (talk) 11:06, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WHY HASNT ANYTHING BEEN WRITTNEN ABOUT NINIS' NEW CONTRACT???? HE SIGNED IT DAYS AGO... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kyr004 (talkcontribs) 16:24, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
