Stoke Newington Central is a ward in the London Borough of Hackney. It corresponds roughly to Stoke Newington in London, UK and forms part of the Hackney North and Stoke Newington constituency of Diane Abbott MP.

The ward returns three councilors to Hackney London Borough Council, with elections every four years. At the previous election on 04 May 2006 Rita Krishna, Muttalip Unluer and Jamie Carswell all Labour Party candidates, were returned. Jamie Carswell resigned, forcing a by-election, on 25th November, 2008. [1] The date of the by-election is yet to be announced.
