NOTE: Moved from "Ajahn Chah," per renaming convention, on 13 September, 2006.
Moved back to "Ajahn Chah," per temporary agreement on convention, on 14 September, 2006.
(Please do not remove this note!)
I added the current residency of some of the teachers but I'm concerned that this method isn't necessarily conducive to entry relevancy over time since monks tend to move, though they do remain abbots for quite some time.

Better'n nothin'. They can always be updated. Somebody needs to get transponder anklets on those monks. --Gary D 22:20, 28 Jul 2004 (UTC)
What naming convention?
I see a note above mentioning a naming convention as the rationale for why this article is titled Ajahn Chaa. There are a lot of naming conventions in the english language Wikipedia. What naming convention applies to this article's title? I had thought that, as per the practice for Thai individuals, honorifics were not to be included in title name, thus Bhumibol Adulyadej rather than Phrabat Somdet Phrachao Yuhua Bhumibol Adulyadej and Seni Pramoj rather than Mom Rajawongse Seni Pramoj. Is it true that Ajahn Chah was a cigarette smoker?
And perhaps evena heavy one? I know that monastics in the Sri Lankan tradition are permitted to smoke and beleive that this is also true in the Thai Tradition (in fact I am pretty sure of it). 122.148.173.37 (talk) 01:34, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
