Flickr help

Hello Closedmouth, I noticed you had an account at Flickr. Is there any chance you could help me. Would it be possible if you could contact the owners of the following images and ask them if they are prepared to have their work used in Wikipedia. I work on articles relating to Michael Jackson, being the reclusive figure he is, images are very hard to come by and the article isn't exactly attractive. Any help you could offer would be highly appreciated, seriously like a million barnstars your way fantastic. Anyway, these are the images I'm interested in...

If any of these people are not the copyright owners of the images then obviously don't worry about them. I really hope we have some success with this, it's a shame that a featured article on such a public figure is so bland in appearance. — Realist2 23:17, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see what I can do. --Closedmouth (talk) 06:49, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I've made the initial contacts, give it a few days or weeks and we'll see how it turns out. --Closedmouth (talk) 07:25, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yay, one down four to go. Thank you, thank you! — Realist2 11:17, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Almost got this one. Hopefully he'll remove the non-commercial caveat. --Closedmouth (talk) 04:19, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'm watching your page so I'll get all the latest updates. — Realist2 12:51, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh, he doesn't seem to have noticed my latest comment. I'll step up to private messages over the next couple of days. --Closedmouth (talk) 16:43, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, appreciated. — Realist2 17:35, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I find it odd that he responded so quickly to the first comment, but seems to have completely ignored the second. Oh well, I'll try a little harder this time. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:27, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Pinged them all via "FlickrMail", hopefully they'll notice that and also not tell me to fuck off. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:24, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yay, two down, page sure you cross it off! I love the golden look :-) — Realist2 14:57, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Currently negotiating with the guy who did the aerial shot of Neverland Ranch. Unfortunately he wants to retain the copyright and have the image appear on Wikipedia. Which is understandable. But not very helpful :-/ --Closedmouth (talk) 12:53, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Darn it, you should tell him about how much good such an image would do. Michael Jackson gets thousands of hits a day. His work would be viewable to a greater audience. I hope he comes around. — Realist2 14:56, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea, I'll mention that in my next message. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:58, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No dice. He doesn't want to allow the shot to be used in commercial works. So close. --Closedmouth (talk) 07:12, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Home secretary

Hi - I believe the reference to "home secretary" is that of the top civil servant in the ministry of home affairs. Its like the Permanent Under Secretary in Britain. Shiva (Visnu) 18:17, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

Is there a specific reason why you haven't run for Adminship? — Realist2 14:09, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Too scared. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:53, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Besides, all I ever do is huggle vandals and attempt to edit every article on Wikipedia with AWB, plus I have editcountitis and I'm not very good at brown nosing. I hear these qualities don't go down well with the cool kids that control who gets to delete shit. --Closedmouth (talk) 16:06, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, a rebel then. I still think you should give it a go. If you want to run and need a nomination and time in the future send me an email. — Realist2 17:51, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh its ok

Dont be sorry. :)Valentine-Lets (talk) 14:15, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spam

Sorry about my apparent 'spamming'- I thought I was adding appropriate links. Cerreycow (talk) 06:23, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:EL. --Closedmouth (talk) 06:30, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Life Changing issues

Your edit of revolutions was entirely unconstructive and did not help me with my essay. I feel that you did not even consider the possibly of my article being more informative than the existing one. In fact I don't think you even looked at it. You seem to me the worst type of vandal unable to comprehend with new forms of community collaboration. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.28.151.178 (talk)

You have an odd definition of "community", i.e., you. --Closedmouth (talk) 06:30, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

question about adding ELs

I did some EL adding earlier today that was removed because it was apparently considered spam- I apologize for that, I wasn't aware of the guidelines.

But I've done a little reading and came across this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:External_links#Non-English_language_content

"Links to English language content are strongly preferred in the English-language Wikipedia. It may be appropriate to have a link to a non-English-language site, such as when an official site is unavailable in English; or when the link is to the subject's text in its original language; or when the site contains visual aids such as maps, diagrams, or tables – per the guideline on non-English-language sites."

The site to which I was linking is a valuable resource for English speakers, filled with information translated into English that is in some cases unavailable from any other source. Everything on the site is officially approved by the respective artists' labels/offices/etc., as per their about section: http://musicjapanplus.jp/about/

"To bring you this information we receive our information directly from record industry sources in Japan who give us the official green light on carrying their information on musicJAPAN+. Therefore, our artist database may develop slower than other English reading Japanese music sites on the web, but you can trust that the artist information we publish is accurate and official."

Those things said, does that change the acceptability of the links I made today? I will certainly understand if not, I am just looking for a little clarification. Thank you!Cerreycow (talk) 13:25, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When people add links en masse to a large amount of articles, that generally piques my spidey spam sense. If you feel justified in saying it's a relevant link, please, by all means remove my warnings and add the links wherever you want. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:43, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to add that links to database sites are generally not acceptable, and the links the above user has added are just that. The warnings should stand as applied. --Jacob Talk 15:42, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response, Closedmouth. I understand and appreciate why you judged them to be spam. If I add any more/again, I'll be sure to consider the spam standards you linked me to before doing so. Thanks again! Cerreycow (talk) 12:28, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Enhanced..."

Please advise as to how my editing of this article resulted in its becoming more biased, rather than less. Herrschmetterling (talk) 13:22, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously...? --Closedmouth (talk) 13:27, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

standards. seriously.

I AM THE EGG.

Wow, you're uptight. Do you know Unpopular Opinion? I'm a sockpuppet of him. You'd get along well. --Eggd3 (talk)

What a tiresome little idiosyncrasy that is. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:05, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Famous Comments on English Cuisine"

Why was "Famous Comments on English Cuisine" deleted in the English Cuisine article?

References were added and it was NOT(!) vandilism!!!

Are you English Closemouth? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.107.251.207 (talkcontribs)

What...I thought I reverted you deleting a huge chunk of text. Fuck, I'm too tired for this. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:31, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I created the page. Now I'm deleting it. I don't have OK on the copyright, thought I did. I'll get it sorted out and put a page back up, but have to go to work now... and want to get these blanked, or better still, deleted... before I leave.

You reverted it, probably because it looked like I did it incorrectly (forgot to put the delete tag). Please revert the revert! thanks... DjbFire (talk) 14:51, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You've issued a block warning to Cervo91 - who has meanwhile just vandalized a help page (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Help:Archiving_a_talk_page&oldid=255212455). I'm a relative newbie and don't know how to go about this now; I've reverted the edits though. Ta! Audionaut (talk) 16:39, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image in use on you user page?

I thought I'd let you know that your user page is reported as using the image Image:Sam Masterbating.jpg. I have asked for assistance at Wikipedia:Editor_assistance/Requests#Suspected_template_vandalism_affecting_user_page. William Avery (talk) 12:50, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You said that PROD tag is contested. Can you fill me in over on the talk page? Thanks. tedder (talk) 13:19, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the red unpdate template you added to Edwin Ernest Salpeter. What does unpdate mean? davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 21:40, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Manahoac

One the Manahoac wiki page.....I had added the link to the Official Web page of the Manahoac Native American tribe's website. Also the Joseph "Nanmankoi" Newman page is for the guy who was a portege of Chief Turkey Tayac (who also has a Wikipedia page)....Joseph was the person who went out and spent many years bringing back North Carolina's Algonkian and siouan Native American descendants. Joseph Newman is also a distant cousin of Turkey Tayac. Native American tribes do not have the money to get fancy websites so most of their websites are hosted on geocities. Please look at the link that was added to the manahoac website. The link is fully part of the Manahoac.
