I've moved this article to User:Delawory's userspace and redirected BSO (Arad) to the main article again. I've never done anything like this before and I just want to ask - is this the right response to this situation? Cheers. Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits) 14:06, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Deletion Of Coleco Music

The article refers to one of the first argentinian electronic projet that are involted in the chip music scene. They organized the first argentian 8 bit cultural event, Goto Start, to promote the argentian chiptune scene. They have also been released through 8bitpeoples netlabel, going one step beyond the argentian electronic music frontiers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lulunotyou (talkcontribs) 13:49, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, but none of this shows how they are notable enough to be included in Wikipedia. Please read WP:Notability (music). --Closedmouth (talk) 07:02, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

I think that Coleco Music has become the one of the most representative artist of a notable style like 8 Bit, Chiptune, Video Game Music, in fact Coleco Music had been refered in bitpop's article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitpop), Gameboy Music's article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gameboy_music) and 8bitpeople's article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8bitpeoples) And Coleco Music is representative of the electropop scene of Buenos Aires. Coleco Music has released an album in the more important indie labels in chiptune scene(8bitpeoples) and His songs were also included in the Gamewave Podcast Compilation Vol 1 of the Pterodactyl Squad label . —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lulunotyou (talkcontribs) 19:45, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of Geoff Etherton

Why has this page been deleted? I am involved in 'new forms of ministry' and I understand that Rev Etherton was one of the first ordained pioneer ministers in the Church of England. Time will show that this will be a revolutionary step - it is the first change in a title of ordained ministry for hundreds of years, perhaps you have failed to understand this? I wonder whether you are simply anti-religious as I see other posts that are to do with religion have been deleted by yourself. I also believe this deletion goes against the policies & ethos of wikipedia —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.150.142.177 (talk) 22:45, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

prod2

Hi - quick question - I saw you fixed my subst'd prod-2 here. I guess that is to have categorized appropriately - however I am surprised that there is a problem because that was done with twinkle. Is there a problem with the way Twinkle puts that tag on such that I should either not use that function or notify the Twinkle dev team? Thanks for catching it. JCutter (talk) 06:46, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, if Twinkle is doing that you might want to drop Amalthea a note. {{Prod2}} shouldn't be subst'd. --Closedmouth (talk) 07:10, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Proud (John Stanley play)

I noticed the AfD on this was closed because you had speedied it. The creator of the article (I assume) had placed a plea on the AfD that the article was now properly sourced. As I can't see the article now, I can't say whether it was or not. If he did add sources, then the CSD wouldn't have been met. I just wanted to let you know, in case you didn't notice these and would like to reopen the AfD. Gigs (talk) 20:01, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, the AFD was already closed, I deleted it under CSD criterion G4. 637Productions recreated it after it was deleted. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:51, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Restoration of KEIGWIN + COMPANY

Hi Closedmouth,

My page was recently deleted, as it was considered a personal promotion. However, that is not the case and I have created a new account for myself under the username Liz Beres. The page I had created was entitled KEIGWIN + COMPANY; if you could help me restore what work I already have made I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if you have any suggestions in restoring the page and looking it over, please let me know so that I can avoid deletion again.

Flicker images

Hello! I was told to go here by the user User:Realist2. I am in the middle of planning on taking No Jacket Required to a featured article nomination, and it is currently at Peer Review. One of the reviewer's concerns was that there was a lack of images, and they recommended that I go to Flicker. I went there, and found an image, but I don't know exactly what I need to do, how to ask the user for permission, and how to properly upload it and such. Would you be able to help me out? The image is here. Thank you very much, and have a great day! CarpetCrawlermessage me 22:47, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Please restore "Nneka Egbuna" -- here's why

Thank you for your attention and on-going work on Wikipedia. Much appreciated.

However, I must request that you restore the Nneka Egbuna page that I created. She is an artist of some critical acclaim in Europe, and her music is of potentially substantial interest in the United States. However, there is no way to get information on her other than pasting together bits and pieces of her biography elsewhere, and I was attempting to provide a Wikipedia-appropriate resource. Let me know if I have misunderstood the criteria for inclusion.

If I have simply mis-cited resources, please let me know and I'll fix the page once you have restored it. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joshuaskov (talkcontribs) 21:15, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Natalie Tran images

I take your point. The uploader of those images had tried asking for free images, run into trouble, and was advised to upload the images he did, on the basis that similar images already existed. I've tried to cover for the uploader to avoid the images being deleted before he had a chance to respond, but it's probably most appropriate if you could resolve this with him. I must confess to being totally confused as to official policy, anyway. Radagast3 (talk) 08:19, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

That video nerd image is inappropriate also. Thanks for the link. I'll take it up with the uploader. --Closedmouth (talk) 09:12, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Pare ta Chnaria Mou

Hi Closedmouth

I see you have removed the speedy template from Pare ta Chnaria Mou. You don't need any reason at all to do so, so obviously I don't object. However, the reason you did give ("artist's article exists") doesn't actually give rise to a presumption or even claim of notability—in fact, the reverse is true. See WP:NSONGS.

While many commentators at AfD discussions use the statement that "in general, if the musician or ensemble that recorded an album is considered notable, then officially released albums may have sufficient notability to have individual articles on Wikipedia" to mean that all albums of notable musicians are intrinsically notable (a bizarre interpretation, in my view), the guideline actually explicitly states the opposite presumption for songs: "Most songs do not rise to notability for an independent article."

Regards, Bongomatic 12:27, 11 May 2009 (UTC) Should you wish to reply, please do so here. I will watch this page for a few days, so no {{talkback}} or other comment on my talk page is required.

I agree that the recording is probably not notable (consider redirecting), but A9 requires that the artist's article not exist. It says it right there at WP:A9. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:59, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
That is a very good point. Bongomatic 17:13, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the RFSD of his page - while I agree that it was poorly written, I think it is also clear the user has no intentions to use & contribute to WP in the fashion of which it is intended - wanting instead to use it more as his personal picture gallery and web space - hence the RFSD. I have already had to undo a couple of edits he made on articles as well as on my own user page (not my talk page). Just an fyi... thanks Srobak (talk) 15:39, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Batavia / Batavia (disambiguation)

Your deletion of the #REDIRECT Batavia -> History of Jakarta and the subsequent move of "Batavia (disambiguation)" to "Batavia" leaves the page "Batavia" with about 120 links to it which, I wager, refer overwhelmingly to the old name of Jakarta. Under the previous arrangement, those links would have found their way to an article about the relevant subject via that REDIRECT; now they lead to a disambiguation page. I think this is not an improvement for most readers.

This situation arose because the article "Batavia" had been changed from a disambiguation page to an article about the region of the Batavians in Roman times. This was seen as unsatisfactory, given the intent of the majority of links to that page. The rationale and details are discussed at Talk:Batavia (region).

I suggest to move the current disambiguation page Batavia back to Batavia (disambiguation) and then change the resulting REDIRECT at "Batavia" to point to History of Jakarta. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 16:33, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

At the time I moved it, "Batavia" redirected to "Batavia (disambiguation)", which is redundant. The incoming links can be disambiguated, but if you think it should be moved, feel free to pop a WP:RM request in. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:30, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

I'd like to know what it is about this group that they keep getting deleted while their political opponents remain on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VoteOnMarriage.org)? Knowthyneighbor.org is even referenced on this page. Their significant contribution most notably is the revolutionary activist strategy of posting petition signatures online has led to the White House commenting, national recognition, and most recently outed the CEO of Walmart as someone who signed away GLBT rights to adopt in Arkansas. What more do you need? Certainly the opposing group (VoteOnMarriage.org) can claim nothing as significant, so I believe an explanation is owed.Salemmaman (talk) 03:03, 20 May 2009 (UTC)salemmaman May 19, 2009 11:03PM

You might want to go back and recheck your facts, the article did in fact discuss the posting of signatures to the petition to end marriage equality in Massachusetts, which gained KnowThyNeighbor.org national attention. Furthermore, the cite for Tom Lang was a news article from the Boston Globe, and the cite for Aaron Toleos was from Advocate Magazine where he was featured. All of what I had put up as video to cite facts where from the news re-posted on YouTube, not just amateurs filming protests and posting them. Let me cite two examples so you can see what I mean:

Dick Wirthlin - dead or alive?

Hi there. On May 18, you made this edit to Dick Wirthlin [2], adding the category '2001 deaths'. However, as far as I can tell, Dr Wirthlin is still alive - see, for instance, this source from 2007, which states 'despite being almost 76, he has no plans to retire yet'.[3] I assume this was simply a mistake, and have removed the category (it's possible you got confused by the 'end of term - 2001' in the infobox, which is when he ceased to be a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy). If there's something I'm missing here, please let me know. Robofish (talk) 00:41, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

It was not advisement. There was no links to any company and/or agencies. All sources were from Chilean newspapers, some in Spanish, some in English. Any particular reason that you restored subpages of a banned user page? These are speedy deletable and serve no purpose whatsoever. Can I ask who has requested their undeletion? Fram (talk) 09:25, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Guido requested the undeletions in IRC. I didn't realise he'd been rebanned, I thought they'd been deleted at his request and he'd just changed his mind :-/ Didn't mean to shit on your head like that, although I can't see any harm in leaving them. --Closedmouth (talk) 09:35, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, they are basically useless, as soon as his talk page gets emptied from everything but the ban notice. Who contested the Prod? The IP user that removed the tag didn't contest it. He simply removed the tag to put one up about American English. Adding that tag (which is all he did to another article not under Prod) was not contesting it. Niteshift36 (talk) 16:37, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

If a prod tag is removed, the prod is contested. WP:PROD#Conflicts. --Closedmouth (talk) 08:56, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
  • It was removed in error. Look at the guys history. It's a vandal account. Niteshift36 (talk) 11:16, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
It's not a vandal account, it's not an account at all, it's a shared IP, anyone could have made that edit, please assume good faith. --Closedmouth (talk) 07:44, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
  • The account, that day, as well as before and since, has been used mainly to vandalize an article on the color blue. It was used within minutes to do it. Common sense tells me when the PROD was NOT contested and the guy just removed it to put a different, wholly unrelated tag on the article. Assuming good faith doesn't mean we have to ignore the obvious. Regardless, itthe article is AfD. Niteshift36 (talk) 13:34, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
  • I thought you might find it interesting to note that the IP was blocked as a sockpuppet today. Niteshift36 (talk) 07:35, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
No, it wasn't. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:15, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
  • No, you're right, he just vandalized his own page. Niteshift36 (talk) 14:32, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

FYI

I have no idea what/why you guys are going on about, and don't have time to investigate, but I dropped a note here to draw eyes. Please put down the tools for now, and discuss it there. rootology/equality 12:52, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Silly misunderstanding, no need to comment. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:24, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Could you please explain further...

You recently added a Europeanized sort tag to an individual with an Arabic name. Since Arabic name styles don't use inherited lastname-surnames this is generally a very bad idea.

Did you have a reason to believe that an exception should be made for Ibrahim Shafir Sen? Geo Swan (talk) 15:43, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Not being entirely familiar with Arabic naming conventions/ordering, that was probably a mistake on my part, feel free to fix it. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:00, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Iasos (musician)

oh god hes watching us. i for one welcome my wikipedia overlord... You deleted the article on Iasos (musician). i had it on my watchlist, intending on improving it. while he has not released cds/records on major labels, his music is not exclusively self published in the past (his website of course has all his stuff from the past, so that cant show notability), and has gotten a lot of attention within the new age community. i think he does meet notability guidelines. the article as it existed was horrible, and gave no indication of notability. i would like you to either recreate the article, or allow me to recreate a better article (either for real or in my sandbox), and perhaps you can tell me if that article shows notability in your opinion. i dont need the article recreated to have a copy as it was cached by google. i actually would prefer it not be recreated as it was, as its worse than useless as it was. im a believer that the first iteration of an article should be respectable enough so that if it appears in a google search, the searcher will come away reasonably well informed, more so than other top links, ESPECIALLY the websites of the subject, which are often lousy and just there to self promote. Id like to get to it within the next week or 2. I think if i can find the source for Alan Watts saying he is writing the classical music for the New Age, that could help. Mercurywoodrose (talk) 07:02, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I don't know what exactly you want me to do here. If you want to recreate the article in a better incarnation, you don't need my permission. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:13, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

For all that tiresome admin work

Just a quick note

to say that I got a kick out of you deleting the talk page to my recently deleted vandalbox as a G3. :) t'shael mindmeld 22:27, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Heh, didn't even think that. --Closedmouth (talk) 12:47, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Classical Chinese Wikipedia

I guess you're right, but it wasn't properly contested - he just reverted and called it vandalism. Innerear (talk) 18:13, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

A piece of advice regarding Luis Monge

Do you think I put the PROD tag on it too prematurely? --I dream of horses (talk) 18:19, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Meh, that's a judgement call really. You can never tell what's gonna happen after you click save. It's usually a good idea just to wait a few minutes, as there's no rush, but anyone can just remove the prod if they want to so it's no big deal. --Closedmouth (talk) 09:12, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Thank you I thought that was the case. Thanks. --I dream of horses (talk) 15:41, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
