The following is a list of episodes for the American television series, Bones. The series premiered on September 13, 2005 on the Fox Network and currently comprises four seasons.

The first season finale was aired on May 15, 2006 while the second season was broadcast between August 30, 2006 and May 16, 2007. The third season ran from September 25, 2007 to May 19, 2008. The fourth season premiered on September 3, 2008.

As of August 14, 2024, a total of 69 episodes of Bones have aired.

As the clues begin to unravel, the investigation gets more complicated when details of the man's private life are revealed, leading Brennan and Booth to a private detective who may hold key information. Meanwhile, Brennan is introduced to Dr. Camille Saroyan, a first-rate pathologist who has been hired as the head of forensics at the Jeffersonian, and more importantly, Brennan's boss. It doesn't take long for Brennan to figure out "Cam" is a little too familiar with Booth and that they share something of a past. Also, Booth encourages Brennan to visit her mother's gravesite for the first time

Meanwhile, Booth is annoyed that his ex-girlfriend Rebecca, the mother of his son Parker, is letting Parker spend so much time with her new boyfriend.

Brennan is hurt by this as she is also a product of the foster system. Meanwhile, things get tense when Brennan and Cam struggle for power in their disagreement on work styles. Cam threatens to fire Brennan even if it costs her the whole Jeffersonian team.

Brennan and her team scramble to decipher Epps' cryptic clues as they try in a desperate effort to find his accomplice who has been killing for Epps. When they realize that another victim may be alive, the team works under pressure to try to find the young girl.

Meanwhile, Brennan, curious, confronts Rebecca about her recent antics with Booth and her rejection of Booth's marriage proposal.

Brennan and Booth are called to the site of an explosion in a Miami hotel where several people were either injured or died, including an unidentified body that was found burned, thought to be that of the bomber. Diplomatic immunity and State Department official Alex Radziwill stand in way of Brennan and Booth's investigation as they pursue key clues about the case.

Meanwhile, Hodgins works up the nerve to ask Angela out on a date. At first, she rejects due to their situation as co-workers but after seeking advice from Brennan and Cam, she agrees to go.

The team investigate the murder of two kidnapped teenage twin boys. The boys were placed in a spaceship-like capsule and buried alive underground. Soon, Brennan and Hodgins find themselves victims of the "Grave Digger", and Booth frantically searches for them as they slowly run out of oxygen underground. The case as broadcast has no conclusion, and it is unsure whether it will ever be solved. The Fox Network website initially displayed a summary for the episode which included an original ending where the Grave Digger was identified as the female reporter that coauthored a book about Grave Digger.[6] The summary was later revised to reflect the episode as broadcast in which the Grave Digger is unidentified and the scene replaced by character reunion moments.[7]

Meanwhile, Booth and Brennan are called to the scene where a man's body was found gutted, burned and hung like a scarecrow on the roof of a hotel that housed Federal witnesses. Booth determines the victim was a snitch working in an organized crime syndicate. Brennan's brother, Russ, informs her of a phone call he received from their father, warning him that they are both in danger. Soon after, a priest contacts Brennan telling her that her father insists that she and Booth drop their case. They determine that the body found was actually an ex-FBI agent, who was tracking Russ to kill him - hence, giving reason to Brennan's father's warnings.

Booth and Brennan are ordered to the cell of serial killer Howard Epps to identify the remains of an inmate. To their surprise, the charred remains don't belong to Epps. It's soon learned that Epps has escaped and is on a revenge path, which involves Booth's young son, Parker. Due to the danger of the case, Brennan must get FBI protection. Cam inhales a toxin while performing an autopsy, which puts her life in danger.

However, the killer's method was different every time, leading the team to believe that it was not one but three killers. Booth and Sully become concerned for Brennan, while she insists she can take care of herself. This increases tension between Sully and Brennan, straining their relationship. Booth tries to help them along, apparently fine with the couple. At the end of the episode, Sully and Brennan reconcile and Booth, walking away, looks back sadly.

During Brennan's vacation, a woman's body is found with its bones removed. The team interviews people who knew the woman, but they all seemed to be hiding something. At the end of the episode Sully sails off in his new boat, "Temperance", while Brennan waves good-bye.

Brennan and Zack examine corpses, which have been spilled out of their coffins, due to a burst water main in an old cemetery on the St. Agatha church grounds. However, as they identify the individual bodies to be put back in their proper place, they find one skeleton that is out of place. Father Donlan, who runs the church, says that all these bodies had been buried for at least 50 years and yet Brennan believes one of them was buried five years ago with no coffin. When it is confirmed that the deceased was murdered, Booth and Brennan investigate the priests and administrator of the church and argue about the validity of religion.

Brennan and Booth are called by Homeland Security to investigate the scene at an old stone house where some glowing bones have been found. Fearing the remains might be radioactive, the pair don protective Hazmat suits and cautiously enter the house, where they find the glowing bones but no radioactivity. Back at the Jeffersonian, the team examines the bones and determines the identity of the victim, but there is no immediate explanation as to why the remains are emitting a green glow. With each of their specialties called upon, the whole Jeffersonian team joins Brennan and Booth in pursuing the murder mystery, which leads them to a group of friends who are shocked to discover that one of their own is the victim. During the course of the investigation, the victim and their friends' MySpace.com pages, along with the photos, videos and blogs they contain, are a virtual tool for the Jeffersonian team's search for answers. Meanwhile, Hodgins professes his love for Angela in a very unusual way. In the end, Angela decides to propose to Hodgins and they agree to get married.

The team works on finding how Chelsea Cole, a fan of astronomy who suffered from Werner's Syndrome, died. Meanwhile, Hodgins and Angela prepare for their wedding. Zack is asked to serve his country in Iraq. Brennan's father, Max, tries to let her in on her past and brings her a 1993 video of her mother. Booth and Max decide to get into a fist fight before Max surrenders to his arrest.

Season 3: 2007–2008

The third season of Bones premiered on September 25, 2007 on the Fox Network. The third season of Bones premiered on November 3, 2007 in the UK on Sky One, but new episodes stopped airing after "The Boy in the Time Capsule" aired on December 13, 2007. The airing of new episodes resumed on April 10, 2008 with "The Knight on the Grid". Season 3 has finished airing as of May 19, 2008 in the US and May 29, 2008 in the UK. The series finale gained 586,000 viewers in the UK. All UK vieweing figures are from the Broadcasters Audience Research Board. [3]

Angela and Hodgins hire a private investigator to track down Angela's ex-husband. The case does not conclude at the end of the episode, but begins the recurring Gormogon story arc.

His wife discovered him at the retreat with another woman just before he died, and both become suspects in the case as well as the lover's ex-husband. Meanwhile, Angela attempts to go under hypnosis to find out the name of her husband nicknamed Birambau to divorce him in order to marry Hodgins. Though the hypnosis fails initially it ultimately leads her to the name, Grayson Barasa.

Booth and Brennan are called to investigate a decomposed body found on the grounds of a organic composting site. The body, belonging to the founder of an organic supermarket chain, was indicated by its unusually high temperature to have been incinerated. The team discovers a double homicide when flesh from another body is found, which turns out to have belonged to the first victim's daughter. Meanwhile, the FBI forces Booth and Brennan to undergo psychiatric counseling.

The FBI is called to investigate after the mummified remains of a teenage girl are found in a Halloween-themed maze. Brennan and her team determine that the girl has been dead for about a year. When the team finds out that a third teenage girl is missing, they realize they have until the Halloween holiday to save her.

Employees of the Jeffersonian Institute become murder suspects when the remains of a Jeffersonian intern is found in the building's incinerator. Booth, Brennan and their team set about to investigate her death and find that she had been working on the Gormogon case, which is still open. They acquire further motives for her death when they discover that she had been in a romantic relationship with a Jeffersonian employee. Meanwhile, Booth poses as Cam's boyfriend and accompanies her to her family get-together.

The body of a teenage boy is found by his former high school classmates to have been hidden inside a time capsule that was buried 20 years ago. As the team investigates the class of 1987 to find the boy's killer, they find a disk among his belongings, containing a game which would have been a landmark title in 1987 if released. They also discover that he was the father of one of his classmates' son. At the end of the episode, Booth is shot while protecting Brennan, and it is not known if he survived.

Season 4 began on September 3, 2008 in the US on the FOX network and began on September 25, 2008 in the UK on Sky1. Bones went on a hiatus on November 27, 2008 and it will return on February 19, 2009 in the UK.

She is one of Angela’s old friends. When Booth interrogates Roxie, he asks her if she slept with Geoffrey. Roxie claims that she didn't, since she’s a lesbian, and to ask Angela if he doesn’t believe her. Later, Roxie tells Angela that she was her muse and that when they broke up, Roxie lost her inspiration. Daisy Wick returns as the intern of the week. UK airdate: November 6, 2008.

When they identify the victim as a travel writer working on a controversial story about airline pilots, Booth and Brennan must race against the clock and solve the murder before the plane lands in China and they lose their jurisdiction over the case. In a lucky break, the victim’s bones are identified in a government database as those of an ex-Marine who has been off-the grid for nearly three years. With no records of his whereabouts from the past three years, the team turns to the internet for answers. The investigation eventually leads Brennan and Booth to an ultra-elite private school and a group of rich and powerful families, one of whom the ex-Marine had worked for as a “manny.” As the investigation continues, the team finds Brennan’s father to be an unlikely asset to the case, but Brennan is opposed to her father’s involvement. Hodgins is not over when he and Brennan got taken hostage a while back. He may even be partially to blame for Booth’s kidnapping. Turns out Booth was tasered, knocked out and stuffed in a toy-like yellow submarine. When he gets out of the tiny submarine, Booth finds himself face to face with someone from his military past. The team works on locating Booth and finding who is behind the kidnapping, but Sweets' pychological assessment of the Grave Digger warns the team that they can't alert the authorities of Booth's kidnapping, or the Grave Digger might hurt Booth. We learn why Booth’s son is named Parker. Brennan, Hodgins and Thomas Vega, from episode 2.09, face Judge Dix Williams and AUSA Kim Kurland, also from episode 2.09, and learn that evidence in the Grave Digger’s case has gone missing. The three of them are suspected of taking the evidence. Hodgins is revealed to be obsessed by the Grave Digger and Vega is writing a book on the subject. Agent Perotta and Jared also appear.

(which is also hinted to be a stepping stone in the Angela-Hodgins relationship) and many arguments about marriage, which Brennan still firmly believes is an 'antiquated ritual'.
