I removed this:
"Jimmy is known for his precision, faithfulness to the teaching of the Church, gentleness, and humor."
That's clear POV - if it's a quote then it needs to be sourced, otherwise it shouldn't be there at all. (Nor should an equivalent negative sentence, of course.) 86.132.143.27 23:09, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Apologist?
Calling him a Catholic "apologist" seems a bit POV, but I'm not familiar with this guy. Would less loaded terms like columnist, commentator, etc be more appropriate? -- Hongooi 10:46, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- He is the Director of Apologetics at Catholic Answers, and his blog has won the "Best Apologetics Blog" award. It seems to be an apt description to me. -- Cat Whisperer 12:12, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Is the objection to the term "apologist" that it is negative or positive? Because Catholic generally use the term to mean merely a person who makes an argument for their faith, and the word does not have the connotation of "apology" for wrongdoing. If the objection is that the term is too positive, I don't believe it is, as Mr. Akin would seem to me to fit the definition of an apologist, whether one agrees with him or not.
I've researched the guy - this page seems to be an all-out POV.
Fair use rationale for Image:JimmyAkin.jpg
Image:JimmyAkin.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
