  • Murder trial to begin: Marek Harčar, a Slovakian man, is due to stand trial accused of the rape and murder of businesswoman Moira Jones[1]
  • 30 March - Major Power cut hits Glasgow and West Of Scotland. The affected areas included the west end of Glasgow, Bearsden, Clydebank, Helensburgh, Dumbarton and as far afield as Lochgilphead and Oban.[2]
