Template:Neuroscience portal Genes, Brain and Behavior (also known as G2B) is a scientific journal in the fields of behavioral, neural, and psychiatric genetics and its primary audience are researchers working in these fields.

Publication history

Genes, Brain and Behavior is published by the International Behavioural and Neural Genetics Society[1] in collaboration with WileyBlackwell.[2] Volume 1 appeared in 2002 and issues appeared quarterly; as submissions increased, the journal switched in 2003 to a bimonthly and then in 2006 to an 8-times-a-year schedule.[3] Content is available online from the Wiley–Blackwell "Interscience" website[3] or, after a 12 month embargo, from EBSCOhost.[4] Authors can elect to have accepted articles published as open access.[5] All content is available online for free after 24 months.[6]

Indexing and citations

Genes, Brain and Behavior is currently (as of 2009)[6] included in the major indexes BIOBASE, Biological Abstracts, BIOSIS Previews, Cambridge Scientific Abstracts' Animal Behavior Abstracts and Neurosciences Abstracts, EMBASE, Excerpta Medica Abstract Journals, Genetics Abstracts, Neuroscience Citation Index, PsycINFO, Science Citation Index, and Scopus. According to the 2008 edition of Journal Citation Reports, its 2008 impact factor is 3.890.[7] This ranks Genes, Brain and Behavior 53th out of 219 listed journals in the Neurosciences category and 5th out of 47 listed journals in the Behavioral Sciences category.[7]

The five journals that as of 2008 have cited Genes, Brain and Behavior most often, are (in order of descending citation frequency) Behavioural Brain Research, Genes, Brain and Behavior, Journal of Neuroscience, Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews, and Molecular Psychiatry.[7] As of 2008, the five journals that have been cited most frequently by articles published in Genes, Brain and Behavior are the Journal of Neuroscience, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, Science, Nature, and Molecular Psychiatry.[7]
