The Stadium of Fire is an annual event held in the Brigham Young University's LaVell Edwards Stadium on the 4th of July. It is one of the main events for the Provo Freedom Festival.[1]

It has hosted several famous performers over the years, including, the Beach Boys, Mandy Moore, Taylor Hicks,[2] The Osmonds, Lonestar, Lucy Lawless, Toby Keith, Lee Ann Womack,[3] Corbin Bleu, Brooks and Dunn, and Miley Cyrus.

Each year the show has around 50,000 people in attendance. [citation needed]

In 2005, the show decided to break a world record (already held by itself) by blowing up over "1 million and more" firecrackers at once.[citation needed]

The Stadium of Fire was originally the creation of Alan Osmond, one of The Osmonds.

Because this is the "fireworks" portion of the July 4th celebration for Provo City and surrounding communities, as many 100,000 more people surround the stadium to watch the fireworks portion of the show.[citation needed]

The July 2008 headliner was Miley Cyrus along with the sci-fi music trio Blue Man Group. The show was hosted by political radio personality Glenn Beck and tickets sold out in 20 minutes.

Recently, the event has been criticized for its booking of only conservative leaning radio/television pundits for the responsibility of hosting the event, with some indicating a possible 'agenda' of sorts behind the event.[citation needed] FoxNews personalities Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity have both hosted Stadium of Fire. This is the reported reason that event coordinators John and Sheri Whittaker left the organization in 2004.
