Episodes

Episode 1

Original Broadcast - First aired on August 16, 2009

Antonio swims ashore to the rapturous delight of his beautiful love prospects on the Big Island beach. After a shocking dismissal of one woman upon meeting who he didn't like her hands and feet as the reason to dismiss her, the ladies must make the arduous climb up Mount Pu' U' in a show of determination for Antonio.[2][3]

  • Challenge: None
  • Bottom 2: Anju, Miranda
  • Eliminated: Anju, Courtney, Nathalie

Antonio's Reason:

  • Nathalie - Antonio was not physically attracted to her in part because he felt her hands and her feet were unattractive.
  • Courtney - Antonio's mother felt she wasn't right for him because of her artificial look, so he eliminated her on that basis.
  • Anju - She told Antonio that she shouldn't/wouldn't be restricted to one person and Antonio wants someone who will be committed to just him.

Episode 2

Aired on August 23, 2009

Everyone is still buzzing over the shock of Tully's arrival. But the shock turns to horror, as Sarah has an emotional breakdown in the middle of the night. Antonio seeks out Tully and they have their first conversation after being estranged for nearly 20 years. Tully begs for a second chance. Antonio doesn't trust her motives for being here but reluctantly agrees to let her stay.[4][5] When we last left Antonio, his ex-wife Tully Jensen Sabato had just arrived at the elimination ceremony and declared her love for Antonio. As this episode opened, Antonio gave more information about his relationship with Tully. It's interesting, to say the least.

Antonio married Tully when he was young, though Antonio and Tully disagreed about how young he was. Antonio claimed he married Tully when he was "barely 18" and she was 28, while Tully says that he was 20. According to imdb.com, the couple was married on May 16, 1993, making Tully 29 and Antonio 21. Regardless, the couple was married for less than a year and have not been in contact for years, so it's astonishing that Tully claims to have never gotten over him. 15 years is a long time to hold onto a defunct love[citation needed].

The women were all pretty freaked out and suspicious of Tully. Jennifer thought that Tully "is either a spy, his sister, or she's telling the truth." This very astute insight led her to accuse Tully of being his sister and a spy, both of which Tully denied. She said that she had hoped to have some alone time with Antonio, as she hadn't spoken to him in years and wanted a chance to present her case for rekindling their romance.

Once the Tully-mania settled down slightly, the girls settled in and Jennifer realized that she was hungry. She made some waffles with cream cheese and syrup melted on them in the microwave and offered some to Sarah, the girl who needed constant reassurance and ran away from Antonio on the first episode. Sarah took offense to the offer of food and started freaking out. She screamed at Jennifer that people don't put cream cheese on waffles and that she knows it's a trick. Jennifer approaches her and tries to settle her down, but Sarah just loses it and starts screaming until Jennifer and others give up. It's not clear what kind of trick Sarah thought they were playing on her, but it's not like she was being told that eating sardines with strawberries and yogurt was delicious.

Shortly after this, Julann went to bed and Sarah sat by her and began to cry, stating that she wanted to go home. Julann tried to comfort her and at one point said that she could tell that Sarah was an unhappy person. That was the wrong thing to say. Sarah began screaming and pacing the house frenetically, saying that Julann was a "Russian c#@$" for calling her unhappy. Eventually her tantrum escalated to the point that she was escorted away from the show. The next day, Antonio showed up at the house and found out that Sarah was gone. He was concerned about her and wanted to go after her, which was not an acceptable response to Julann. Once he realized that Sarah was gone for good, Antonio pulled Tully inside and Julann expressed her outrage to the other women about how little Antonio cared about her feelings and said that he should have been comforting her about being called the c-word instead of worrying about crazy Sarah.

Inside, Antonio and Tully had a heart to heart. Antonio told Tully that her sudden appearance was not fair, which she counters with the accusation that his leaving her was unfair. She said she wanted to see if the two of them have a shot, and Antonio said they didn't, but Tully said she didn't care, that she wasn't leaving. He told her not to f#@& with his mind; she asked for a fair shot. The conversation ended with Antonio conceding that she could stay.

He told the camera that the reason is that he doesn't want to hurt her and that she can stay because he doesn't want to kick anyone out like that. How quickly he seems to have forgotten that he kicked one girl out for having bad hands and feet and another because his mom didn't like her big fake boobs. It's fine if he wants to leave his ex-wife in the mix, but don't try and say that it's because he's not interested in eliminating people for unfair reasons. So far, almost every person who has been eliminated has been sent away for unfair reasons.

After their dramatic reconnection, Antonio brought Tully and all the other girls together to air any concerns to him. One girl said that he isn't a good communicator and doesn't make eye contact. He says he will try. Next, Julann asked to speak. Still freshly wounded from his lack of concern about her emotional well-being, Julann announced that she was leaving. After a few moments of stammering disbelief, Antonio pulled her aside and spoke to her about her concerns on the patio.

Julann told Antonio that he had "divas and drag queens here. Your priority should have been my well-being." Antonio told her that he would have done the same thing for her had she been the one freaking out and leaving, and pointed out that he was doing that right as they spoke. He tells her over and over that he wants her to stay, but she's not letting him off that easily.

"You need to attend to the women who are emotionally healthy," she said. "or the ones who are emotionally healthy are going to be the ones who are sick."

She claimed she wasn't a diva, yet continued to act like a crazy person and essentially made Antonio beg her to stay. Once she realized that she had broken him, she agreed to stay. Her tantrum managed to get her about an hour of one-on-one time with Antonio, which of course made the other women jealous. Autumn told the camera that she felt that Julann was manipulative, rightly so. Julann seems to think that she won, but it is evident that Antonio was not taken in by her manipulations.

In the house, Tully and Miranda got into an argument over bathroom space. Miranda had apparently moved Tully's stuff too close to the toilet and Tully felt disrespected. Miranda kept saying that they had been there longer than Tully and that Tully couldn't just come in and take over already claimed space. Each time Miranda said how long they had been here before Tully's arrival, the number of days increased until Tully finally said that the women had only been there two days prior to her showing up.

Antonio then brought in a hypnotist, Dr. Scott Lewis, to hypnotize the women. Nobody was forced to participate, but Julann was the only one who didn't even try. She was afraid that she would be possessed. Several of the other women didn't make it through the whole session, but they at least had tried.

Dr. Lewis put the girls through some silly charades, including one in which he told Tully that she was the nicest person in the world and Miranda that she was the second nicest in the world. He also made a couple of the girls pretend to be Italian reporters and to make up words that sound Italian if they aren't familiar with the language. This resulted in Tania using sexual food metaphors throughout the entire exercise. Antonio liked this, saying that he "liked her tiramisu very much. She liked my cannoli." Clearly the size of one's dimples are directly related to the amount of class one has.

Finally, the women joined Antonio and his mother for dinner again. Antonio's mother gave Julann a hard time for refusing to participate in the hypnotism and also made some veiled remarks about Tully. When the dessert arrived for the lei ceremony, Jessica and Julann were left without leis. Tully literally cried with joy that she got one, and Antonio explained to the viewer that Tully at least had proven that she was willing to open up to him.

Antonio called Julann and Jessica to the head of the table. He told Jessica that she was up there because he barely knew her. She said she wanted to get ot know him and that at least she wasn't like Julann, who had gotten to talk to him and was still up for elimination.

When he turned to Julann, he said that he felt that her behavior over Sarah had been completely selfish and that he didn't like that. She said that he needed to focus on the emotionally healthy women and not bother with the sick ones. Antonio jumped all over this, asking if she thought he should just ignore people who need help. She said no, but that he shouldn't ignore the emotionally healthy women and only pay attention to the attention-starved crazy people. Antonio didn't like this answer at all and told her that she wasn't going to get lei'd, he was keeping Jessica.

Julann left still ranting and raving about how Antonio didn't get it, that he shouldn't pay so much attention to the crazy people and he should only pay attention to the emotionally healthy women who were there for him. Julann obviously didn't understand that by eliminating her, Antonio had actually taken her advice.

[6]

  • Challenge: None
  • Quit: Sarah
  • Bottom 2: Jessica, Julann
  • Eliminated: Julann

Antonio's Reason:

  • Julann - Antonio felt that Julann only cared about herself and not of the importance of Sarah's problems; she felt that Antonio should care only about the ones who have no problems like Sarah did.
