Re: Protection

Well, per the protection policy, the article hasn't suffered such extreme amounts of vandalism as to justify page protection, but I'll certainly keep an eye on it. Also, welcome to Wikipedia! Regards, –Juliancolton | Talk 03:41, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects

Hello. To answer the question you posted at my talk page, you can make one page jump automatically to another using a "redirect". To use one of these, just prefix the link with "#REDIRECT" (minus the quotes). Have a look at the source of your page here to see an example. For more info on when and how to use these, see WP:REDIRECT. Per Ardua (talk) 08:27, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war report

Hi there! Thanks for reporting Viriditas again for edit warring. I was about to do the same thing. Are you still working on the report? If not, do you mind if I edit some of your text? A few of the applicable discussions have moved to archive pages, and I'd like to update the links. Thanks again! --SharkxFanSJ (talk) 19:55, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've also added my thanks to you for drawing up the report on edit warring regarding Henry Louis Gates arrest incident. I believe that all of us would have preferred to have the notice concise and to the point, however thanks to Viriditas it is now looking like the talk page. GoldDragon (talk) 22:07, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is a good point, if we ever have to make this report again I think one report and one statement of support from each editor, then silence after V's inevitable comments, would make a stronger case. Manyanswer (talk) 02:17, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My thanks as well for making the report. I notice that the text "clear consensus" does not properly link in the first lines of the report, you may want to fix that link. If you're not trying to link to this which has since been archived, you might want to add that in there too. Manyanswer (talk) 02:16, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. The report you just did about V. is a bang-up good job, in my opinion! I rarely visit the ani/3rr page but was just saying that in general, in a non-3rr case such as this, I think the history of the editor's having been warned ought to be made plainly accessible via the report, even when it's of common knowledge to many -- as I think people should get a fair chance to get what's expected of them before getting smirches to their record on Wikipedia. For example, on a page that's on "Obama articles probation," editors who make even as much as a 2nd revert, which is edit warring, technically (something that is allowed to be extremely enforced very stringently on such a page) should be sent an extremely polite warning telling them there's zero edit warring allowed on the page, under probation (with no indulgences granted to editors believing themselves just protecting the page, which would be unfair). ↜Just M E here , now 12:01, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war issues

Hi! I've had some lessons learned to keep myself sane, and hopefully you find them useful too. I put them on my talk page Manyanswer (talk) 19:27, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rend Lake College

I took a look at your article and it looks like a very good start. I think the current coverage is more or less about the level it should be. There is some clean up needed but on the whole I think you are going in the right direction. -- DS1953 talk 18:12, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would appreciate some advice about a page I am seeking to put up, but have some reservations. I am working filling in Red Link articles on Illinois Colleges, and one in particular index.php?title=Richland_Community_College&action=edit&redlink=1 Richland Community College, was deleted in 2007 by an admin User:Tone. Now this could have been for poor quality in addition to lack of notability. However, before I remake the page, any way I can pre address his concerns to avoid deletion?IlliniGradResearch (talk) 02:13, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:DYK nom

I took a look, and found one problem. See Template talk:Did you know#John Wood Community College. Cheers, Dabomb87 (talk) 13:49, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested a rewording. What do you think? Dabomb87 (talk) 14:50, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I split the citation for each of the three sentences to indicate the correct page number for the line. What do you suggest? I am open for what ever hook would work best in the DYK section. Also, thank you for the assist. IlliniGradResearch (talk) 14:55, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Colleges

Without an in-depth reading and review, here are the major issues (each of the colleges seem to be about the same): There are quite a few instances of problems with the footnotes, as in you have the sentence, then the period, then a space, then the footnote, and there should not be the space. Next, each has a one sentence WP:LEAD that does not summarize the article adequately. Then, per WP:EL the official college website only goes in the infobox and is not repeated at the bottom. Also, there is a field in the infobox for coordinates and the coordinates should be moved there. Then for Rend Lake College, the history seems pretty detailed except for 1975 to 1999, an almost 25 year gap, what happened? Also, with enrollment, number in excess of 1000 need commas, such as 1,000, which is done in part of the section but not everywhere. Lastly, articles should rely mainly on third party sources, and each relies a lot on publications that are not independent of the schools. These are fine to supplement as they are likely to be reliable, but these closely related sources can also be used for propaganda by the schools. See also Wikipedia:College and university article guidelines. Hopefully this helps. Aboutmovies (talk) 07:12, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
