Userfication request

Hi Skier Dude

Could you please userfy the following articles to my name space? I will check them for accuracy and release them to mainspace if they check out.

Regards, Bongomatic 05:11, 17 November 2009 (UTC) Should you wish to reply, please do so here. I will watch this page for a few days, so no {{talkback}} or other comment on my talk page is required.[reply]

See above for the list - if there's no changes, just let me know & I can restore them, keeping the page histories, rather than you needing to cut & paste them back in ;) Skier Dude (talk) 05:35, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Bongomatic 05:38, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've been helping User:Jxc5 out with some articles now and then over the past few months (as you likely know) and it has recently turned toward some issues with image copyrights, as you noted here. Jxc5 left me a question on my talk page and while I have a relatively firm understanding of copyright, my knowledge with the application of it, especially images, is pretty shaky, and is not an area I've participated in much here. Would you be willing to lend both of us a hand, or at the very least double-check what I wrote? ~ Amory (utc) 22:21, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Christian Mortensen image

Please explain why you deleted this image:

01:03, 23 November 2009 Skier Dude (talk | contribs) deleted "File:Christian-mortensen.jpg" ‎ (F4: Lack of licensing information)

Also, I disagree with the "F4" reason, which is being misused.Ryoung122 14:53, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The "F4" reason is 100% applicable in this case - the image did not have any templated license whatsoever, which is the basic requirement for this deletion criteria. Please explain your accusation of "misuse"! Skier Dude (talk) 20:12, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Can this be "undeleted"? I think it's a shame that Wikipedia now has NO PHOTO of the OLDEST VERIFIED MAN, EVER. Also, too often people like to DELETE things (reactive) rather than proactively attempting to "fix" the problem they identify. There's plenty of information on both Mr. Mortensen and where the photos of him come from. See, for example:

Michael A. Rogers

HI,

I'm trying to complete a page on Michael A. Rogers. I uploaded a photo (file:MichaelHead1.jpg), which was given to me by Michael Rogers and who owns the copyright, but you deleted it. I understand this photo was used elsewhere on the web with his permission. Can you please let me know what criteria need to be meet to post this photo?

Thank you,

-Vernon —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vchurch10014 (talkcontribs) 16:57, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, at Wikipedia:Possibly_unfree_files/2009_October_22#File:Cockyboys.3Dpromo-1.jpg I added the link to the duplicate. One can be deleted I believe and I think I've sorted the fu on the other. -- Banjeboi 23:17, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Terry-park-stadium.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Terry-park-stadium.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nyttend (talk) 23:19, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Curly Howard in Malace in the Palace

Why did you delete this image? It is not from the film and it is a composite of 2 photographs from the production.

File:MaliceInThePalace.jpg - F3 - improperly licensed as {{PD-self}} - deleted 18 Nov.
Image:CurlyMalice.jpg - F3 - improperly licensed as {{PD-self}} - deleted 19 Nov, removed from article at same time. You re-uploaded it on November 24 with the appropriate license. Skier Dude (talk) 04:41, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to come in but is Image:CurlyMalice.jpg a screenshot or a blown up part of the standard publicity image [1]. ? Just seem strange that somebody would take a screen shot at exactly the same moment that was used for the publicity images. MilborneOne (talk) 12:48, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That scene was never used in the film. These are photographs from the production. Lou72JG (talk) 20:43, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The Image:CurlyMalice.jpg does have artifacts & blur that make it seem to be indicative of a screenshot, as opposed to a cropping of the much better quality [2]. However, but Lou72JG has now just seemingly has contradicted himself - is the wiki image a "photographs from the production" or a screenshot? Skier Dude (talk) 02:36, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NEWSical

Why did you delete the photo on the NEWSical page? It was the official show logo and I work for the show. Thanks. Dbspress (talk) 15:30, 24 November 2009 (UTC)Dbspress[reply]

Hot Chicken image ownership

The "File::Hot chicken.jpg" image was deleted by you. I'd previously send proof of ownership to permissions-en@wikipedia.org as suggested by [User::Kaldari] six days ago, but got no reply. Is there a better way to handle this? Joelmoses 2000 (talk) 02:10, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lewis & Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from Lewis & Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!

Skier Dude, I've removed the prod tag you placed on this article. I know the article's not much to look at as is, but I believe notability can be established with some effort.

At the least, I think this should be run through AfD before it is deleted.

Image deletion

Perhaps you missed this tag when you deleted the image? Perhaps you could undelete it. Thanks. Redvers 08:15, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to double check this, as there's a duplicate of File:Interior of Merseyrail 508 after Angel Trains refurbishment.jpg - File:Class 508 interior 1.jpg (listed as a Flicker upload). Skier Dude (talk) 08:28, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No idea why Commons would upload the photograph from my Flickr stream after it had been uploaded to Wikipedia and copied to Commons; but that's Commons' problem. The original image was tagged {{NoCommons}}. Redvers 08:31, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Rappyunzel.png

Hi, Skier Dude. Can I ask you to please undelete File:Rappyunzel.png? It was deleted as orphaned, but it was only orphaned because it was replaced by another image. That later image was subsequently deleted for other reasons, so I'd like to go back to the older one. Thanks! Powers T 14:22, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Much obliged! Powers T 02:47, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

re File:Kafi Benz - 83d40m - ccc newsletter 2004.JPG

File:Kafi Benz - 83d40m - ccc newsletter 2004.JPG (delete | talk | history | logs).

  • summary states "scan of an image of Kafi Benz published in the 2004 newsletter of the MPO West Central Florida Chairs Coordinating Committee" - thus user is not (c) holder; also replaceable fair use as subject is still living Skier Dude (talk) 02:55, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Skier Dude -- Publications of the U.S. government are not copyright. This is a publication produced with public funds by the governmental agency issuing it and carries no copyright. The image should be retained. Perhaps it should be labeled differently -- please let me know if you need more details. ---- 83d40m (talk) 03:40, 27 November 2009 (UTC) ---- 83d40m (talk) 03:54, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Ohso_logosmall_color_angled.jpg

Hi Skier Dude, Thanks for your e-mail. The file:Ohso logosmall color angled.jpg is a fair use image. I was trying to upload it to the top of the television info box of the article I created for Oh So Cosmo, but I am new to Wikipedia and can't seem to figure out how to insert it properly. I have permission to use this image (I work for CosmoTV) and would welcome your help in inserting the image. I read your policy on non-free media and as far as I can tell, this is fair use. I have also uploaded a photograph of the hosts of Oh So Cosmo, under the same fair use agreement, which I unsuccessfully tried to add to the article. Again your assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help! Images put up for Speedy Deletion

Cjfred (talk) 06:44, 28 November 2009 (UTC) Hello, I am quite new to Wikipedia, so I am not sure if this is how to get in contact with you. You recently put six of my uploaded images up for deletion because they were not used in any articles, however I was in the process of creating the articles. All images are now currently being used.[reply]

Thank you for your concern and time. =) -CJFred
