Rangpur Cadet College, is a military high school for boys in Rangpur, Bangladesh having about 300 cadets, 50 in each grade from 7th to 12th.
History
A cadet college is a special type of institution following the model of English public schools. The Pakistan government established the first cadet college in 1954 before the liberation of Bangladesh. In 1979, Rangpur Cadet College was established as the sixth Cadet College of Bangladesh. Without establishing a new infrastructure, the former Rangpur Residential Model High School was converted into a cadet college with some infrastructural modification. The land now owned by the college now is partially taken from the Carmichael College, a reputed educational college which stands beside it. The college started with its first 3 batches (called Intake in the terms of Cadet Colleges) in 7th, 8th and 9th grade in 1979. Cadet Hossain Sohel Shahnawaz was the first College Prefect of the CCR (who was assassinated on the February 25, 2009 in the BDR mutiny). Within very few days it started showing success in every field it's concerned with. From 2003, English was introduced as the medium of education as per the government decision to convert the Cadet Colleges into English Medium. Afterward the college was converted into English Medium with 28th intake as the first batch in English Medium. The 35th intake is now the latest batch entering the college in April, 2009 and the 30th intake is currently the most senior batch.

Success in National Debate
Cadets of CCR have a great and glorious success in the history of national TV debate. In 2008 at the 10th national TV school debate held in BTV, Rangpur Cadet College has become the champion. The speakers were Cadet Khaled (31st) and Cadet Moontasir (31st) and Cadet Galib (30th Intake). Behind this success was Mr. Abu Rais (Asst. Prof. Bangla), Mrs. Latifa Akhter (Asst. Prof. Bangla), Mr. Monirul Islam (Lect. Bangla). The Principal Lt. Col. Asaduzzaman Subhani and Adjutant Maj. Jishan took a lot of pain to achieve this success. Not only that Cadet Galib (30th) became the best debater and Cadet Moontasir (31st) became the 5th ranked debater in the country in 2008. Before that in 2007 in 9th national TV debate the team of Cadet Sharif and Cadet Galib led by Cadet Yahiya became runner up. It is mentionable that after 13 years they are the first to reach the final among all cadet colleges. Again in 2008 the team of Cadet Sharif, Cadet Yahiya led by Cadet Zia became 2nd Runners up in 'Juktikothon: ATN Bangla National Debate Championship' under the sponsorship of BSB and Cambrian College. Cadet Galib became the best debater in the country in school level winning in the 'National Baroari (12) Debate' while cadet Moontasir also got 5th position. The first team sent from Rangpur Cadet College to National TV debate competition in school level in 2002 secured the 3rd position. Cadet Khalid (25th), Cadet Ishtiaq (25th) and Cadet Manjur (26th) were in that team under the supervision of Mr. Abu Rais of department of Bangla. Later in 2004, another team was sent for college debate. But that time they failed to fulfill the expectation. All the times Mr. Abu Rais supervise the cadets. Thus he becomes the pioneer of CCR debate success.
