List of people claimed to be Jesus

The list of people who claimed to be Jesus consists of those notable people who have made statements about being Jesus.

Marshall Applewhite		1945–1997	Applewhite posted a famous Usenet message declaiming, "I, Jesus—Son of God—acknowledge on this date of September 25/26, 1995: ....[2] This was two years before he and his Heaven's Gate cult committed suicide to rendezvous with a spaceship hiding behind the comet Hale-Bopp.
Hogen Fukunaga		1945 – Present	He claimed to realize he was the reincarnation of Jesus Christ and the Buddha [3].
Suma Ching Hai		Unknown, possible late 50s – Present	A meditation teacher who claims to be an incarnation of Avalokitesvara and a living reincarnation of the Buddha and Jesus Christ. [4] [5]
Matayoshi Jesus		1944 – Present	In 1997 He established the World Economic Community Party based on his conviction that he is the God and Christ. [6]
Jim Jones	File:Jimjones.jpg	May 13, 1931 – November 18, 1978	Claimed to be the reincarnation of Jesus, Akhenaten, Buddha, Lenin, and Father Divine. [7] (see Jonestown).
John Lennon	File:Jk beatles john.jpg	October 9, 1940 – December 8, 1980	Announced at an Apple Records staff meeting in 1968 (possibly under the influence of drugs) that he was Jesus Christ reborn. [8]
Charles Manson	File:Charles Manson.jpg	November 12, 1934 – Present	When asked directly in court, Manson replied "I may be Jesus Christ. I have not yet decided who I am."[9] Manson also directly told a Father Ryan that he was Jesus Christ. [10]
Sergei Torop	File:Tiberkul church.jpg	1961 – Present	Russian who claims to be "reborn" as Vissarion, the returned Jesus Christ. He denies being god. [11]
Michael Travesser	File:Michael standing.jpg	1941 – Present	He teaches that the Son of God is the archangel Michael. Michael first appeared in Jesus of Nazareth, making this his first coming. They believe in his second coming, Michael manifested himself in Travesser. Although they consider all of their members to be in a sense Christ reborn.
