Biography

Florence-born singer, author and pianist has been present for several years in the music of Italian composers. After earning her diploma in piano from the Cherubini Conservatory in Florence, she continued her vocal studies: she studied modern singing in Rome, opera in Bologna, and then the jazz study in Milan. [1]

Susanna early starts writing songs and was discovered by Vincenzo Micocci, that proposed her a contract with the IT label. She made her debut with 45 laps "A smoke ring" and with this track she won first prize as the singer in the "Dream Factory" hosted by Alessandro Benvenuti at RAI3. Then came several collaborations as a pianist with Greg Brown and Riccardo Cocciante in his tour "The great adventure" and then as a vocalist and accordion player with Claudio Baglioni on his tour "Oltre" and with Raf for the album "Cannibali".[2] She worked in "Tam Tam village" with Carlo Massarini at RAI1 and Mino Damato in "Sognano sognando" where was "The voice of the dream," always on RAI1. She then worked in the orchestra of Sanremo Festival 1993. From the first album "Susanna Parigi", produced by Vince Tempera and released in 1995, which consists entirely of all self-composed songs, Susanna Parigi began to follow an entirely individual path and leave entirely the work of studio musician to devote herself exclusively to composition. In the following album Scomposta of 1999 (produced by Vince Tempera for label New Carish), the literary part of this research is carried along with the songwriter Kaballà, with whom Susanna Parigi will continue to collaborate on subsequent albums, thanks to an identity of views and similar way of thinking. The introduction of the album is written by the philosopher Umberto Galimberti. She joined the summer tour of Radio Italy and partecipated at the Beatles Tribute with the Scarlatti Orchestra of Naples at RAI2, proposing particular versions of the Beatles songs. In 2000 the song "Tre passi indietro" received first prize and the "Special Award best composition" at "International Festival of Songwriting", held in Switzerland [3].

In 2003 Susanna Parigi was finalist at "Festival della Canzone d'Autore" in Recanati, and was included in the corresponding album, after which is host at Rino Gaetano Prix and at Fabrizio De André Prix.

In 2004 she released her third album "Indifferenze", fourteen tracks of which she is also artistic producer along with Vince Tempera for the label Sette Ottavi. "Indifferenze" contains a song composed with Pat Metheny's music, and is also played by Tony Levin, Sofia Symphony Orchestra of 60 elements, some famous Italian musicians like Hellas Bandini , Ares Tavolazzi, Flaco Biondini, Mario Arcari and philosopher Umberto Galimberti, that co-wrote with Susanna the lyrics of "False" and wrote the monologues eponymous of show, presented between 2004 and 2006 at sites such as Colosseo in Rome, Teatro dell'Arte di Milano, Teatro Puccini of Florence, Teatro dele Celebrazioni in Bologna and Theater dell'Archivolto in Genoa. The album cover shows a photo given to the author by photographer Sebastião Salgado. In the same year Susanna parigi was considered by Italian press [4] as a revelation of the music scene, including social issues that she discussed on the album songs: indifference as amputation of the senses in our west world, respect and love for the differences. [5] In 31th May 2005 she opened the show of Israeli singer Noa at Castello Sforzesco (Milan) and in February 20th, 2006 at the Teatro Storchi in Modena. In December 2006 was published on DVD the live show "Indifferenze", recorded at Teatro Dell'Arte, Milan with the help of Médecins Sans Frontières for Nar International label.

In 2009 was edited the album "L'insulto delle parole" for "Promo Music" label, with the participation of the string quartet String Quartet Arkè (exept a Jacques Brel cover "La canzone dei vecchi amanti", arranged by Vince Tempera). The album [6], a major impact [7], includes a videoclip which reports some interviews from Pino Arlacchi, [[Corrado Augias] ], Lella Costa, Cesare Fiumi, Kaballà, Leonardo Manera, Andrea Pinketts and Bruno Renzi (later was added Marco Travaglio), about the concept that gave the name to the album: it is a reflection about the frequent abnormal use of language and handling of vocabulary, where mass-medium modify the name of things leaving them their essence, or do change the facts and call them with the old name, generating a constant stealing of reality and, according to the author, a constant insult for people. [8] Susanna Parigi currently teaches at the "Bonporti" Conservatory of Trento.
