Kinu, thank you for the fair deliberation on The Astute Recorder page.

I completely respect the decision of you and your fellow editors and am taking the Wikipedia guidelines into consideration for future possibilities.

Why did you delete the Retro Fox page? It's important to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TheFoxIsBack (talkcontribs) 01:03, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

  • The article contained no assertion of notability. As a company, notability needs to be asserted and then demonstrated per WP:CORP. This is done using reliable sources. I was unable to find any and endorsed the speedy deletion. Please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia; "important to [you]" is an insufficient criterion for inclusion. --Kinu t/c 01:41, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi - I was adding an entry for Carter Jonas - factual and most certainly not advertising. It was deleted before I could include links to the sources: The Times newspaper being one http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/construction_and_property/article4407264.ece

You cannot argue that you don't allow companies to have an entry - as you list 'The Coca Cola Company'!

I await your reponse.

  • The article as it was written previously appeared to be advertising, and it contained no assertion of notability, which is needed to avoid speedy deletion as well (see WP:CSD#A7). I would recommend adding as many references as possible to indicate why this company is notable. Also, your e-mail address (which I have removed) indicates a possible conflict of interest, so please tread carefully in editing this article. --Kinu t/c 00:13, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
The Media Kitchen
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

Just a friendly heads up on The Media Kitchen. Per a request at WP:REFUND, I reviewed this article and can't see that it met either of the speedy deletion reasons you listed. The awards section is a claim of importance; although you discussed notability on the editor's talk page, importance, a lower standard, is all that's needed to avoid a speedy deletion. And notability may well be out there -- a quick gnews search gives articles in The Guardian and a number of others, such as AdWeek

I also can't see that it met A11 -- if your only issue was the client list (which I advised the editor to get rid of), that's a quick edit, not a substantial rewrite.

Naturally, you're free to take it to AfD if you disagree.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 20:57, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

  • No worries. I suppose the client list was what led me to believe the A11 applied, although that is definitely removable. Perhaps if there was more prose in the article rather than lists, it would seem less spammy... perhaps an imperfect duck test, but it seemed valid at the time. Thank you for restoring the article for this user. I'll keep an eye on it and see if improvements are made. --Kinu t/c 00:15, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
    • I've taken the liberty of whacking out the client list and adding some refs. Sadly, the best refs are behind pay walls. :( Prose is not my strong suit, so I'll leave it to someone else. :)--Fabrictramp | talk to me 14:29, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Your speedy deletion work this evening is awesome. It seems that you have almost single-handedly reduced that C:SD backlog – for at least a little while, we won't have the dreaded banner. C:SD has been a bit up and down, but basically backlogged since a week ago. Thanks for adding some oomph to the process! JamieS93 00:09, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

You deleted the page called Americarpet. However, I believe that the article is unbiased, like it should be. All it lists is the services that Americarpet offers. Furthermore Americarpet has been in business since 1985, which should contribute to its genuineness. Please reconsider your speedy deletion and please answer back. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AnotherHuman001 (talkcontribs) 17:37, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

goodmorning dear Kinu, please help me out here because my article is first under supervision from another user (Name: Konstantinos Plakidas :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Cplakidas ) and then it is erased by you..

i dont really know how that works - i ve already tried to contact the user cplakidas, had no answer though .. can you please tell me what was the Unambiguous advertising ? inside the article is simply stated the nature of the company and the basic data as they are also mentioned in the company's webiste as well as inside other links i ve also referenced. there is no particular reference to returns of the products the company offers, nothing that states advertising.. its simply the company's page.. as there are others of the same sector, like eurobank and alpha bank that have active pages, mentioning the same data as we are trying to. please please tell me what you want me to do in simple english- u guys have phds here.. help us out -the little ones please!! thank you in advance.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Didraki 10/12/2009 13:04 Didraki (talk) 10:01, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

  • The article was tagged as promotional in nature, and after reviewing the deleted version of the article, I feel that this assertion was justified. Notwithstanding, the article itself is a copy of the company's own website, which violates copyright and would be deleted per WP:CSD#G12 anyway. An article that is not a copyright violation and clearly establishes the notability of the company from reliable sources would likely be acceptable. --Kinu t/c 05:05, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Dear Kinu thank you for your answer. in fact it the article is a copy of the company's website - of course I wrote the article on the behalf of the company. Additionally I would like to tell you concerning the notability issues, I have attached many independent sources/sites and places where one can find information on the company. For example one of the references of notability was the website of the Greek Institutional Investors (http://www.agii.gr/) where all Institutional Investors in Greece are subscribed- as well as the company I work for. Please tell me what else can I do. I believed that the references I attached to the article were satisfactory as it concerns the notability issues. Could you please provide me with a hint as for what would be ok with you? thank you in advance,User:Didraki 10/16/2009 15:04 Didraki (talk) 12:03, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

  • You answer your own question... "the article is a copy of the company's website." This is unacceptable per WP:COPYVIO. Use the references to create an article that is not a copyright violation and, if the subject is notable, the article will be suitable for Wikipedia. --Kinu t/c 02:39, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello,

I am new to Wikipedia articles and was unaware of the rules. I created an article called Stanisław Pawlak. This is my grandfather. You can confirm that by emailing him stanislaw.pawlak@post.pl He asked me to create an Article about him. I was the one that helped him submit his CV onto the ITLOS webpage so in fact it is my work. Please tell me how to proceed as I wish to create the article.

Regards,

Jacek Bryniak Bryniak72 (talk) 04:59, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

  • Creating an article in which you have a conflict of interest is not a good idea. Also, the copyright violation is because the text is directly lifted from that site; regardless of whether you posted it there, the ITLOS page contains the text "© ITLOS" in the footer. Besides, regardless of the copyright violation, the article as submitted was unencyclopedic, as Wikipedia is not a place to post a resume and a contextless list of publications, honorifics, etc. An article that contains sourced information from reliable sources and clearly indicates how the subject is notable would be acceptable. --Kinu t/c 05:02, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi

I made a page about the Magician who did Elton John's wedding. Can you explain why it was deleted?

I did include links to his TV appearance videos and articles written on him by newspapers.

I look forward to hearing from you. Mdouglas346 (talk) 22:53, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Many thanks in advance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdouglas346 (talkcontribs) 22:43, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

  • The article contained no information as to the importance of the subject. As written, the article seemed to indicate that the individual is a magician of some local importance, and that he was inducted into a magicians' guild of some sort. If credible assertions of notability from reliable sources can be found, then the article should be rewritten, but as it stands, I saw no evidence of that. I hope this information helps. --Kinu t/c 00:10, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

You recently deleted a page I created citing that it was a "group or club, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject" fair enough but I ask you how is this page any more or less relevant? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambridge_University_Boat_Club As far as I can see they're pretty similar, I added significant information about the club and a heap full of useful external links about Fencing. I am not here wanting you to reinstate my page, just to give me back the contents so that I can transfer it to a more lenient website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hellyes4cress (talkcontribs) 22:52, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

  • I have copied the article to your userspace as User:Hellyes4cress/Bangor University Fencing Club. To answer your question, the article didn't address why the subject was important, just that it is a fencing club at a university, which does not appear to meet WP:ORG. If references can be found that establish notability, then the article can be retained; however, links that are cursory in nature, merely about fencing, etc., do not help with that end. However, this information may be useful in a more general article about Bangor University athletics programs. (To be fair, the article on the CUBC contains an assertion of significance, i.e., CUBC is one of only five clubs which retain the right to directly appoint representatives to the Council of British Rowing.) I hope this information helps. --Kinu t/c 00:18, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I have noticed that you deleted my page that I recently created. I was working on the page, took a break, and then decided to add more content but then: A page with this title has previously been deleted. After working on it for 10 minutes and adding the data in using Wikipedia's special format, it is shocking to know that the page I worked on had just been deleted with one left click of the mouse, the reason being: Article about a web site, blog, web forum, webcomic, podcast, browser game, or similar web content, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject). The content that I type in was fully related to the website and justified with significance to "master-alligator". I don't understand why it was deleted practically 5 minutes after it was created. Please explain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kpa4941 (talkcontribs) 23:51, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello,

I was looking at the Wikipedia entry for San Luis Obospo airport ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Luis_Obispo_County_Regional_Airport ). I saw that user "Kinu" had deleted the information for the fixed base operator "Pigs can fly" aviation, with Wikipedia stating:

This page has been deleted. The deletion and move log for the page are provided below for reference. 21:14, 24 June 2009 Kinu (talk | contribs) deleted "Pigs Can Fly Aviation" ‎ (A7: Article about a company, corporation, organization, or group, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject)

As a licensed private and commercial pilot, I can tell you that *some of the most important information* about an airport includes the references to fixed base operators. Therefore your deletion was extremely unhelpful. I also noticed that when linking to the "Kinu" ID that this person has received a number of warnings and suspensions for unwarranted deletions and vandalism.

Please consider not simply deleting something that you obviously don't understand the importance of. Fixed base operators are of prima facie importance and significance to pilots who use airports! (although possibly not to Wikipedia busybodies with perhaps too much time on their hands.)

Mike Lincoln —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.224.225.25 (talk) 16:04, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

  • The entire contents of the article were as follows: "Pigs Can Fly Aviation is a flight school and aircraft rental company based at the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport in San Luis Obispo, California." That's it. There was no indication in the article of why the company is important, which is why the article fell under speedy deletion criterion A7. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and as an encyclopedia the goal is to contain information about subjects that are notable, not "useful" or "important" as you are using the term. And yes, I didn't understand the importance of the topic because it wasn't in the article... perhaps instead of attacking my good-faith deletion, you could create an article that explained why the company meets notability guidelines? Also, please don't resort to personal attacks... calling me a busybody who is editing Wikipedia is somewhat ironic, considering you are doing the same in your posting to me, no? And, by the way, I just looked at Wikipedia's log and I have never been warned or blocked... I wouldn't be here if that happened as often as you claim, now would I? Thanks for your time. --Kinu t/c 17:52, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello:

Why did you delete the Falcon Software page so quickly before I had a chance to make a revision???? It was added less than an hour before it was deleted! It was my first entry, and when I saw the speedy deletion tag and read some more, i assumed the main problem was the external links since there are many other Wikipedia entries about companies and their products. So, I went to remove them and it was already deleted!

Can I get the original content back to improve it?

Rwrowe (talk) 19:17, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

  • Such is the nature of "speedy" deletion. :) At your request, I've restored the content of the article to your user space; it can be found at User:Rwrowe/Falcon Software. To ensure the article won't be deleted in the future, please make sure to indicate an assertion of notability for the company (see WP:CORP) using reliable sources and not just first-party information. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions. Thanks! --Kinu t/c 19:35, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you! I have revised the page by removing the extra external links, and added proper references. Do I just post it again or should I submit it some other way for approval? (I couldn't find anything regarding this.) Thanks again.

Rwrowe (talk) 23:52, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

If you feel the article is ready to go "live" (i.e., you've made the suggested improvements to it), you can use the "Move" tab up at the top of the page to move the article to Falcon Software. Keep in mind that the article will still be subject to scrutiny, so if another editor feels that notability is not established, it may end up at a deletion discussion. The key is multiple reliable sources to establish notability. I hope this helps! --Kinu t/c 18:59, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Kinu: Would you mind having a new look place at the entry for K. Rai Sahi? I believe that the revisions made should qualify its notability.

As for the tone, I've pared the paragraph on his businesses to four sentences. If you still feel that it doesn't fit the guidelines, I can remove it altogether. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Soundbooth (talkcontribs) 19:54, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

K. Rai Sahi

Kinu: Would you mind having another look at K. Rai Sahi? I've added content that I believe meets the notability guidelines. As far as the style goes, I've significantly reduced the last paragraph. I believe that the paragraph is necessary to provide an idea of the extent of the subject's corporate holdings, but agree that could have been pared down.

Un-protection Request

Hello, I am asking that the Rodney Glassman Wikipedia page be taken off protection. There is a newly written article that I believe meets the standards for Wikipedia and includes more sources then the original article in question. If you would like to review it that can also be arranged. I would like to post the article with all the requirements so that this does not occur again. I would like to resolve this as soon possible.

I deleted the same article when it was reposted in identical form later the same day as the AfD. I would havce said the same at the AfD, but it should have been relisted; there was minimal participation. It would need to be substantially rewritten to be acceptable. It is of course intended as promotion for a political campaign, but the 2 newspaper sources are real enough, and one of them might be independent. Another good one might make it. (This is part of the ongoing problem we are going to have with even minor US political candidates--exhaustive newspaper search will always show something. Newspapers usually cover local politics pretty thoroughly. If we continue to use WP:GNG for this we are accept that the bar will be lower than it used to be--perhaps we will decide to adopt a special rule . ) Wikipedia does not regard AUTOBIO as prohibiting an article--it's just that they are rarely acceptable articles even if the person is notable. An acceptable article would need to focus on the actual notability , which is political. The miscellaneous community activities are not significant--routine for an aspiring politician. (& if he actually wins the Democratic primary & runs against McCain for Senate, there will be good coverage, but that has not yet happened). The academic career is not notable either, and I cannot verify all the information in the Wikipedia article: in particular the " award-winning research both nationally and internationally": I see a reprint at [1], a conference paper in the proceedings of the American Association for Agricultural Education. But I can find no other publications. The Wikipedia article itself is a copyvio of [2] , which is not necessarily a problem because it's his own bio as a city council member for which he presumably can & would give us appropriate permission.
As Kinu advised, let's see a userspace version. DGG ( talk ) 04:21, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Here is a revised article that I believe meets your guidelines. Rodney Glassman is the current Tucson City Council Member for Ward 2 from Arizona. Recently, Glassman was sworn in as Vice Mayor of the City of Tucson. From Fresno, California, Glassman came to Tucson, Arizona, to take over the family’s ice skating rink in 1997. “I was supposed to be here for a year, but I fell in love with Tucson,” Glassman said. On Sunday, December 20, 2009, Glassman married Sasha Borsand. The two met in 2007 at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law. She recently graduated from the University of Arizona with her J.D/M.S (in Latin American studies) this past May. Furthermore, she is a licensed attorney in the state of Arizona.

Education and Professional Experience:

Glassman graduated from The University of Arizona five times. He earned his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Economics and both of his Masters in Business Administration and Public Administration from the Eller College of Management.

In 2005 Glassman completed his PhD in Arid Land Resource Sciences from The University of Arizona. He has published research both nationally and internationally in the area of agricultural education and hands-on learning. In 2007, Glassman graduated with his J.D. from the James E. Rogers College of Law from The University of Arizona and is a member of the Arizona Bar. In the spring of 2009, Glassman was sworn in as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force JAG Reserve and serves at Davis-Monthan Air-Force Base in Tucson.

Professionally, Glassman has experience in small business management and holds an Arizona Real Estate license. He has consulted in the areas of community development, relationship building and charitable giving for companies in Tucson. He previously served on the Advisory Board for the Bank of Tucson.

Glassman also served from 2002-2006 as a legislative aide for Congressman Raúl Grijalva, focusing on business and agriculture in the Washington, D.C. and Tucson congressional offices.

City Council Member:

Glassman was elected to Tucson City Council in 2007 at the age of 29.

Glassman has been visiting other Arizona city councils to speak about conserving water through rainwater harvesting. He has become a “driving force” behind a city requirement for commercial building to harvest rainwater and homes use “gray water” for plumbing that makes Tucson the first city to pass mandatory rainwater-harvesting ordinances. Commercial projects will have to collect enough rainwater to supply 50 percent of their landscaping irrigation.

Glassman is rumored to be eying a run for US Senate in 2010 replacing John McCain (Nelson).

Local Community Service:

Glassman is the founder and President of the Glassman Foundation, a community foundation that raises and contributes over $100,000 annually to local non-profits that serve children. It stated in 2002 (Lundin).

He also established an Educational Enrichment Fund Mini Grant. Its goal is to encourage creative projects among teachers in the Tucson Unified School District's Ward 2 schools. The grant will provide funding for special classroom or library projects. Multiple grants of up to $500 can be used without restrictions as to subject matter or emphasis. Glassman serves on the statewide board of the Arizona Legal Services and Education Foundation and the Arizona 4-H Youth Foundation. Previously he served on the Arizona Farm Bureau Federation board of directors.

His Tucson volunteer experiences include serving on the boards of the Pima Council on Aging, Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona, Catalina Council Boy Scouts of America, Desert Caucus P.A.C. and The University of Arizona School of Music Advisory Board. Additionally, Glassman is an Honorary Board Member of Opening Minds through the Arts (OMA), a program of Tucson Unified School District that infuses arts into the classroom to boost student achievement. Furthermore, he has served on the boards of the American Heart Association, Crime Prevention Council, Pima County Farm Bureau, Sons of Orpheus Men's Choir, Parent-Aid Child Abuse Prevention Program, The University of Arizona Hillel Foundation, and the Hacienda Del Rio Homeowner's Association.

Lastly, Glassman earned his Eagle Scout rank at age 13 (Ward 2 - Vice Mayor Rodney Glassman).
