Independent Professional Football Leagues of America
[edit]According to my research the association was also reported by UPI that was published nationwide and was titled "4 Grid Leagues Form Nationwide Group" (without mentioning the Midwest Professional Football League). At first I was sure that the "Texas League" was a different name for the Southwestern Football League, but now I think that it was something to it (maybe a proposed league or something). It worth looking it up, but at least keep in as an anecdote --Ccui123 (talk) 22:29, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Ccui123: I chose to include the May 1972 article from Des Moines Tribune because the wire article from the AP in March 1972 said it was still waiting for one or two more teams to join. I assume they all did by May 1972. I'll add back Texas League, maybe it's different. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:00, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
- I just remembered something, Arthur Arkush from the Pro Football Weekly was involved with the Trans-American Football League and was later tried to established new football league in the region. Maybe "the Texas League" was related to his attempts (but it may be also me trying to fit a square peg into a round hole...).--Ccui123 (talk) 12:16, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Ccui123: I'm not seeing anything connecting the two. Eagles 24/7 (C) 16:29, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Always learning
[edit]Hi Eagles247,
When I saw that Fantasyfootball04 was blocked, I thought I was next, lol. I was like ... man that person really helped out with adding U.S. Thank God for a 'show block details' tab. I actually thanked MC for helping with just that last month, not knowing a block was coming.
That's why you're the administrator. :)
Nice meeting you. Regards, Bringingthewood (talk) 22:21, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Bringingthewood: You've been doing a good job around here from everything I've seen! With some of these users it's not a matter of whether they have good intentions, but if they are competent enough to be an editor here. With the user in question, their enthusiasm, effort, and good intentions are all there, but they have proven they are not capable of learning from mistakes or guidance given. Thanks for helping out with WP:NFL! Eagles 24/7 (C) 17:33, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
- I get you 100%, it definitely looked that way. I was really hoping with thanks, maybe a non-combative word etc., would have helped him. Oh well, only time will tell.
- One thing I wanted to say, truthfully, and this was from back when I was with Answers.com, I may come across willing to bend over backwards for people, nice guy I guess, but I'm not ***-kissing by any means. I'm friends with another admin. (hope he considers me a friend) and I've always respected authority. It's not me looking for brownie points. When I like people, I like people.
- I really appreciate you responding to my message and please, like I've said to others here, if you see something that I'm doing that ruffles feathers, please let me know right away. I'm bad at stopping the ball from rolling. ;)
- Glad to have met you and enjoy the rest of your week. Regards Bringingthewood (talk) 22:39, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Bringingthewood: No worries, I'll be sure to point you in the right direction if needed! A quick tip if you're looking for one, when responding to a message on a talk page, be sure to use indentation. Wikipedia:Indentation has a good explainer for you, and I've fixed yours above. Thanks! Eagles 24/7 (C) 00:19, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah, I always forget that one. Wish I had the 'preview edit' button back again. Wikipedia must have changed things in April and I have a relic here. At least I could see the mess I make before making it. Sorry about that. Bringingthewood (talk) 00:25, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

- Could this IP address be another sock? Seems to be engaging in similar behavior. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:54, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
- @BeanieFan11: Yep, that's certainly a sock. I've blocked the range Special:Contributions/192.196.218.192/27, let me know if they pop up again. Thanks! Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:12, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

Question
[edit]Hi Eagles247
Would you be opposed to restoring the NFL starting QB navbox but removing the current starters and just keeping the team links like the CFL one? Thanks, ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:37, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- @WikiOriginal-9: That's a good idea, and it's a shame we didn't think of that as a solution to the navbox in that discussion. I've restored Template:NFL starting quarterbacks navbox and repurposed it by removing the "current" QBs, could you add the navbox to the list articles? Thanks! Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:25, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
Probable sock
[edit]Pretty certain at this point that Oompaloompa1971 (talk · contribs) is that person from a while ago that was banned using numerous different IP's. The editing style is extremely similar. Yankees10 22:15, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

[edit]hello, recently there was a pretty bad edits on Debra Messing (a pretty blatant blp violation). I'm not certain, but I think it might require a revdel.

Template:Georgia State Panthers quarterback navbox
[edit]Template:Georgia State Panthers quarterback navbox was deleted here for not having enough blue links; there would now be 3 blue links (Nick Arbuckle, Darren Grainger, Christian Veilleux) - per this new information I am requesting undeletion Joeykai (talk) 14:46, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Joeykai: I was not the closer of that discussion, but I do not believe a navbox with only three blue links that also does not have an article about the topic is worth restoring. My view is that is still fails WP:NAVBOX points 2, 3, 4, and 5. Eagles 24/7 (C) 14:56, 3 September 2024 (UTC)

Sockpuppet
[edit]This guy at Jordan Williams (linebacker, born 1994) has been removing the image for years. Cmm3 and myself keep reverting him but he always comes back with a new account. He still hasn't explained what his problem with the image is despite being asked by both of us. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 06:32, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- @WikiOriginal-9: I've reverted the recent edit, blocked the user as a sockpuppet, and semi-protected the page for three months. I'm not sure why they keep removing the image, but unless a good reason is provided it's just disruptive editing. Let me know if/when they return. Thanks! ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:25, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
Could you restore Paul Dekker please? I have a copyright-free version ready to go. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 21:31, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- @WikiOriginal-9: I moved your draft into the mainspace. There wasn't any revision that I could restore from the old version that was not a violation of copyrighted material. Thanks! Eagles 24/7 (C) 14:27, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
Administrators' newsletter – December 2024
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2024).
Interface administrator changes
- Following an RFC, the policy on restoration of adminship has been updated. Previously this applied only to administrators deysopped for inactivity.
- Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, T5, has been enacted. This applies to template subpages that are no longer used.
- Technical volunteers can now register for the 2025 Wikimedia Hackathon, which will take place in Istanbul, Turkey. Application for travel and accommodation scholarships is open from November 12 to December 10, 2024.
- The arbitration case Yasuke (formerly titled Backlash to diversity and inclusion) has been closed.
- An arbitration case titled Palestine-Israel articles 5 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 14 December.
Note
[edit]I've been reverting this IP for months. They keep removing teams from the infobox without rhyme or reason. I reported them to ARV last week but I guess nothing came of it. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:51, 9 December 2024 (UTC)

- Since 2015, IPs (probably the same person) keep adding unsourced stuff to Ron Lopez. The main thing they like adding is that he was with the Chargers in the summer of 1999. I couldn't find a source for that. They've also said he was in NFL Europe but I didn't see anything for that either. They're very persistent. When I came back from my multi-year editing hiatus, I had to remove more junk they added while I was gone, lol. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 15:24, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- This source specifically says he just had a "tryout" with the Chargers and also that he was not interested in playing in NFL Europe. *facepalm* ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 15:28, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- @WikiOriginal-9: I blocked the recent IP for 31 hours for persistent additions of unsourced content. I assume it's likely the subject editing their own page given how infrequently the article is edited, their fringe notability, and the specificity of their edits. There's not enough disruption there to protect the article, but let me know if/when they return. Thanks! Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:13, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
