Untitled

Girlicious is the self-titled debut album by the American R&B/Urban Pop group Girlicious. The release date was pushed back from July 1, 2008 to August 12, 2008 in Canada. Production started in early 2008, after filming for Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious wrapped up. According to an interview with one of the girls, over twenty tracks were recorded for the album.[1] The album consists of 14 songs, 15 on the iTunes edition with the bonus track Mirror. The album does not include "Leave You Alone" (which was recorded for an episode of Pussycat Dolls Present), nor "G.I.R.L.I.C.I.O.U.S.", which was performed at the finale show after-party. On August 5, 2008, the official cover and tracklisting were released, followed by short snippets of each song.[2] The album was re-released as a "Deluxe Edition" on December 16, 2008, and includes two new songs and three remixes of the album's singles.[3]
An unreleased song titled "Blush" from the album sessions was leaked onto the internet.[4]

Background

Girlicious worked with many producers, including Ron Fair, The Runners, Jazze Pha, Dre & Vidal, Stefanie Ridel, Jonathan Rotem, Rico Love, Brittany Kelly, Esther Dean, Mischke, Madd Scientist, Kadis & Sean, The Bank, Mike Adrienna, Malkia "Milky" Thumbi, Beau Dozier, and Marsha Ambrosius. Robin Antin and Ron Fair are the executive producers of the album.

Reception

The album received positive reviews. Allmusic gave it a positive review, saying "On their debut release, the four girls involved, Natalie Meija, Nichole Cordova, Chrystina Sayers, and Tiffanie Anderson, deliver a well-balanced set of sexually charged, urban-friendly pop and dance numbers which satisfy the listener."

Release and Promotion

Girlicious made their debut performance at the MuchMusic Video Awards on June 15, 2008 with their hit single "Like Me". They were the opening act for the Backstreet Boys on their Unbreakable World Tour that began on July 30, 2008, in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada.

On August 6, 2008, Girlicious performed 6 songs from the album at their first Live @ Much: "Stupid Shit", "Baby Doll", "Still In Love", "Here I Am", "Liar, Liar" and "Like Me".

Tour

Girlicious took part in a North American tour as the opening act of the "Unbreakable Tour" with the Backstreet Boys that began July 30, 2008 and ended September 6, 2008.

Girlicious returned to Canada to tour for the second time in 2008 with The Girlicious Tour, which featured special guest Danny Fernandes. The first set date was scheduled in the beginning of October and ended in November.

During the first week of February 2009 Girlicious made 3 appearances at night clubs throughout Canada. They performed at the Playboy Mansion Gameday Party, and returned back to their tour (second leg) with Danny Fernandes in early March. The second leg of The Girlicious Tour finished in late March.
