RedTube is a Web 2.0, video sharing, pornography site, a concept also referred to as Porn 2.0. It holds an Alexa ranking within the World's top 100 sites.[1] Its popularity has been ascribed to its non-sexual name.[2] Compete.com rated RedTube as the fastest growing site in the year ending 2007.[3] The company behind the site is Choopa (www.choopa.com), also known for creating GameServers (www.gameservers.com).
Concept
RedTube has many similarities to YouPorn and PornoTube as a video sharing site designed to allow people to upload pornographic videos onto the site, which are then searchable by users to find preferred content. Like many other such video sites, it requires the browser plug-in Flash technology. Uploaded videos are usually available on the site after a few weeks. The content includes segments of commercial pornographic movies, advertising clips for pornographic websites and self-shot amateur videos.
Revenue model
RedTube's revenue model is advertising, freemium and through the promotion of additional services such as online dating and live video streaming.
