== The ancestry of Carlos Ray Norris, A.K.A. "Chuck Norris" ==a.k.a your worst nightmare times TEN squared. (with a beard)

I've posted my work based research done with Ancestry.com's resources, and various other sources. It is my hope that others can use this as a starting point for their own Norris family research.

How tall?

Officially he's 5'11" but in fact he's more like 5'8" from what I could tell. Smells of scandal! His height is an issue because he's an inspiration for tiny little cute guys everywhere. They can live the life of massive impressive physical speciments if they can actually get away with it. Perhaps there should be an entry on people whose vision prevents them from correctly judging people's heights or reading a measuring tape. --Megaforcemedia (talk) 15:10, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No he's really 5'11", and so was Rocky Marciano, so it's officially the bad-assest height there is.

Norris was 5'8" at his peak, he has always worn built-up shoes. (92.8.233.79 (talk) 20:32, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He is 5'10" I worked out with him in barefeet. I am 5'9 1/2 He is just slightly taller.

He is 5'7". he says he's 5'11 but i think he's more like 5'10 also —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.12.215.46 (talk) 16:35, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the above poster. Definitely 5'7"/5'11"/5'10" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.175.116.35 (talk) 01:47, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fight record

I've deleted the last 2 item from Norris' fight record. I can found no evidence that chuck norris ate a man they occurred. No references for them are given in the article, and they are not mentioned in his autobiography, Against All Odds, My Story or at Chuck Norris' fighting record. Feel free to put them back in if you can find some information about the events. Tim Ross (talk) 09:54, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Phrasing

In the Political Views section: "Chuck Norris supports gun rights and ownership, and is against public schools condoning homosexuality." This last part (bolded) is bizarrely-phrased and not particularly note-worthy or useful. Perhaps his opposition to homosexuality would be more appropriate here - "aberrant sexual behavior" ([1]). ~~

Could you also edit out "the" in the section on Norris sending a letter to Obama not to follow other presidents. It seems to indicate all other presidents supported the pro-abortion stance of Clinton and Obama. This is not the case. It would make it more clear to state "other democratic Presidents" as all republican Presidents have not supported the public financing of abortions since Roe. notoadultery 20:14, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Chuck Norris inciting armed rebellion against the USA

I think there should be a section under political views regarding Chuck Norris' claim on the Glenn Beck show that there are thousands of cells of right-wing ready to rise against the US government if "things get worse" and that he might run for President of Texas after said rebellion.

Illustrative Reference: Prospective Secessionist Views '

http://www.theweek.com/article/index/94248/Chuck_Norris_Texas_secessionist

“In what could be the most egregious misuse of his Chuck Norris powers” since he endorsed Mike Huckabee, said Edward Ericson Jr. in the Baltimore City Paper, the martial artist and TV star suggested that Texas was ripe to secede from the union, that he ‘may run for President’ of the Republic of Texas, and that there are thousands of “right-wing ‘cells’” ready to follow radio host Glen Beck’s marching orders. The need to secede “may be a reality sooner than we think,” said Chuck Norris in Townhall. My president-of-Texas quip was tongue-in-cheek, but the idea behind it isn’t. Washington is “moving farther and farther from its Founders’ vision and government,” and the people won’t stand for it. And Texas—it’s own republic from 1836 to 1846—is the logical place to make a stand.

Homophobic

Why is he homophobic?--68.79.114.138 (talk) 06:41, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Many people have many reasons to be many things.--Sooo Kawaii!!! ^__^ (talk) 20:06, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I got this off of a source:

"Regardless of one's opinion of Proposition 8, it is flat-out wrong and un-American to intimidate and harass individuals, churches and businesses that are guilty of nothing more than participating in the democratic process. Political protests are one thing, but when old-fashioned bullying techniques are used that restrict voting liberties and even prompt fear of safety, activists have crossed a line. There is a difference between respectfully advocating one's civil rights and demanding public endorsement of what many still consider to be unnatural sexual behavior through cruel coercion and repression tactics. One thing is for sure: The days of peaceful marches, such as those headed up by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., seem to be long gone.

The truth is that the great majority of Prop. 8 advocates are not bigots or hatemongers. They are American citizens who are following 5,000 years of human history and the belief of every major people and religion: Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman. Their pro-Prop. 8 votes weren't intended to deprive any group of its rights; they were safeguarding their honest convictions regarding the boundaries of marriage."

I don't think Chuck Norris is homophobic (in the classic sense, or the bigot sense), but he wants marriage to "remain the same."--Greg D. Barnes (talk) 02:09, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • So, still, no evidence that he is homophobic. Again, simply not agreeing doesn't make him homophobic. People have become so quick to throw a term like that out without bothering to think about what is means. Niteshift36 (talk) 18:36, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I never said he was, though.--Greg D. Barnes (talk) 03:35, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I will say he is. According to Wikipedia, "Homophobia is a term for a range of negative attitudes and feelings towards homosexuality". I would say that his opposition to gay marriage is exactly that. Negative attitudes and feelings towards homosexuality. If his feelings were neutral or positive, why would he so vehement oppose gay marriage? 207.229.190.73 (talk) 03:01, 20 March 2010 (UTC) ChicagoBrad[reply]
  • Too bad for you that Wikipedia isn't a reliable source. And if you bothered to read beyond the first sentence, you'd see that the applying the term to people who simply oppose gay marriage etc. is disputed by many scholars and other sources. And since it's being used as a perjorative, BLP applies. Niteshift36 (talk) 13:02, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Chuck Norris does oppose gay marriage, but does he have problems with gays in general, or does he slander them? No he doesn't. He's not homophobic in the "classic" sense, or "hate" sense.--Greg D. Barnes (talk) 17:16, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

plastic surgeries

should we have a category to discuss his numerous plastic surgeries? assuming it is all well sourced of course. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.233.178.254 (talk) 23:13, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No I think that would be to trivial. Unless it has caused a degree of controversy.--Misortie (talk) 23:23, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Misortie; this would open the floodgates to listing all the alleged plastic surgeries celebrities have undergone in their respective articles. Better leave them out here.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 15:36, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Product Endorsement

I just added a section that mentions Chuck's advertising of Total Fitness, with Christie Brinkley. These are a long-running and popular series of infomercials, and deserve a mention, but it didn't seem to fit into any existing sections. I don't know if Chuck has done any other product endorsements of note.

I also did a little bit of reorganizing the political section, moving the WND blurb there, and making it a little more chronological. EJSawyer (talk) 18:54, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shows & movies Chuck Norris has starred in.

Two.. That I see, that have not been noted are "The Presidents Man" & "The Presidents Man 2" I found these two movies entertaining enough to have made a successful series of. Equivilent to "The Human Target" on Hulu.com in many ways. I see these two as the best shows he has made thus far. In my opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimoerike (talkcontribs) 14:13, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jokes

Chuck Norris' Wikipedia page needs mention of Chuck Norris jokes. It would be like the Rick Astley page not mentioning Rick Rolling. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.49.90.24 (talk) 05:25, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There's no such thing as a Chuck Norris "joke". There are only Chuck Norris facts.
