Eastview is a comprehensive and college preparatory public high school located in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Established in 1997, Eastview is the newest of six high schools serving Independent School District 196. Newsweek ranked the school in their "List of the Top High Schools in America" for the sixth consecutive time (2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006, 2007, 2008). Eastview has also been recognized by US News & World Report as one of America's Best High Schools. The school is a member of the Lake Conference. The School will leave the Lake Conference in 2010 to go to the South Suburban Conference(MN).

History

2008-2009

• Newsweek ranked the school in their "List of the Top High Schools in America for the sixth time (2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006, 2007, 2008)."[1] . Eastview has also been recognized by US News & World Report as one of America's Best High Schools for AP students. All test scores used in those rankings are of students in AP classes.
• The speech team qualified for the national championship tournament in Alabama in June. Members are Patrick Moran, Josh Noah, Barbara Marchevsky, Vincent Cheng, Greg Berman, Lindsey White, Kailey Field, Taylor Misiak, Katie Baldwin, Madeline Johnson, Peter Ingles and Karina Devine.
• Freshman Adithya Balaji qualified for nationals in congressional debate.
• The girl's basketball team won the Section 3 AA championship and ended up finishing 3rd at state.
• The Science Olympiad team won the 2009 State Championship by the largest margin in state history. They proceeded to compete at the National Science Olympiad competition, placing 29th out of 60 teams.
• The dance team won the State Championship in High Kick and placed 3rd in Jazz Funk at the State Dance Team Tournament.
• Eastview was one of only three schools to earn the coveted starred rating at the state One-Act Play festival at The College of St. Catherine for the production of “‘Night, Mother” starring Taylor Misiak and Sarah Cartwright.
• Nine Eastview High School seniors were named semifinalists in the 2008-09 National Merit Scholarship Program and another 17 students were recognized as National Merit commended students.
• The robotics team, Chaos Theory, won the State Championship in the 2-robot competition at the Minnesota High School Robotics State Tournament
• The boys' lacrosse team made it to state for the 3rd consecutive year, losing to Minnetonka in the state final with a score of 12-10.
• The girls' volleyball team won the Lake Conference tournament for the first time in school history, undefeated. They were section 3AAA champions and finished as state runner-ups, losing to Shakopee in four games.

2007–2008

• Akshar Rambachan won NFL Nationals in International Extemporaneous Speaking; Greg Berman finished 5th in Humorous Interpretation.
• The girls' basketball team won the Section 3 AA championship, and ended up finishing 3rd at state. Their record for the season was 29-3.
• The speech team won 4 state championships.
• The debate team won Varsity Classic State, Varsity Lincoln-Douglas State, JV Classic State, JV Public Forum State, Novice Classic state and retained the Governor's Cup.
• The football team finished 2nd at Lake Conference and won the section 3AAAAA championship. They lost in the state semifinals and finished the season 11-2.
• Eastview alum Sarah Prosen (class of 2007) represented the United States at the Trampoline World Championships in Quebec, Canada. Sarah's U.S. women's double-mini team (including teammates Kaci Barry and Aubree Balkan) captured the bronze medal.
• The girls' soccer team lost the Section 3AA championship. They lost in the state quarterfinals to Robinsdale Armstrong and finished the season with a 17-2-3 record.
• Eastview alum Ishanaa Rambachan (class of 2004) was named a Rhodes Scholar.
• Eastview has 14 National Merit Scholars (9 Commended and 5 semifinalists)

2006-2007

• Eastview students won six regional Emmy awards including Best Sports and News Documentary.
• Eastview's One-Act Play, Action, was awarded a starred performance at state.
• Eastview had 10 National Merit Scholars (7 Commended and 3 Semifinalists/Finalists).
• Eastview is named a 1 star school by Minnesota Department of Education.
• Eastview celebrated its ten year anniversary.
• Junior Brittnye McSparron led the Lake Conference in scoring for basketball.
• Eastview girls' basketball won the Conference.
• The dance team won the State Championship in High Kick.
• The marching band placed 12th in Bands of America Finals Competition in St. Louis, MO- the first time Eastview marching band has made finals at any Bands of America event.

2005-2006

• Eastview students won five regional Emmy awards. McKenna Ewen won three Emmys. Kelsey Eliason and Ryan Mundahl each received one Emmy. Megan Groves received honorable mention in the regional Emmy awards.
• McKenzie Melander won first individual section championship in girls' cross-country.
• Eastview had 19 National Merit Scholars (12 Commended and 7 Semifinalists/Finalists).
• Eastview was named a 10 star school by the Minnesota Department of Education.
• The dance team won the State Championship in High Kick and was the runner-up in Jazz Funk.

2004-2005

• James Hohmann (U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking) is the first two-time National Champion in Speech.
• Cory Stewart (Dramatic Interpretation) was National Champion in Speech.
• Eastview was named one of nation's best high schools by Newsweek Magazine.
• Eastview students won first two Emmy Awards for The Flash Political Show and The Flash Holiday Show.
• Eastview had 16 National Merit Scholars (11 Commended and 5 Semifinalists).
• Eastview was named 10 star school by the Minnesota Department of Education.
• The dance Team placed 2nd in High Kick and 3rd in Jazz Funk at the State Dance Team Tournament.

2003-2004

• The cheerleading team was ranked 13th in cheerleading teams across the nation.
• Eastview received a National “Speech & Debate School of Excellence” Award.
• Ishanaa Rambachan (International Extemporaneous Speaking) & James Hohmann (U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking) were 1st National Champions in Speech.
• Eastview had 22 National Merit Scholars (14 Commended and 8 Semifinalists).
• Chris Kantos named first individual conference championin boys' cross-country.
• Allison Gilmore is the first Eastview alum named Rhodes Scholar.
• The dance team won the State Championship in High Kick.

2002-2003

• The cheerleading team was ranked 14th in cheerleading teams across the nation
• Eastview received the National “Speech School of Excellence” Award.
• 100% of students who took the Advanced Placement Calculus Exam receive 3 or higher.
• Eastview was named one of the nation's best high schools by Newsweek Magazine.
• Eastview hadd 19 National Merit Scholars (9 Commended and 10 Semifinalists).
• Ishaana Rambachan and Alex Gioe were the first ExCEL Award Program winners selected by MSHSL.

2001-2002

• Eastview had 18 National Merit Scholars (11 Commended and 7 Semifinalists).
• Daniella Voysey & Ishanaaa Rambashan were the first Eastview state champions in classic debate.

2000-2001

• Eastview was named one of nation's best high schools by Newsweek Magazine.
• Eastview had National Merit Scholars (12 Commended and 7 Semifinalists).
• The boys' hockey team won Section 5AA Title and made it to the first state tournament, receiving a State Consolation Title there.

1999-2000

• Allison Gilmore was the first Eastview state champion in speech (extemporaneous speaking).
• Eastview had 18 National Merit Scholars (10 Commended and 8 Semifinalists).

1998-1999

• Eastview had 12 National Merit Scholars (9 Commended and 3 Semifinalists).
• The girls' soccer and girls' basketball teams won first Eastview state academic championships.
• The Dan Lundin Update was created and acts as a bridging newsletter for the first graduating senior class.

1997-1998

• Odyssey of the Mind won first Eastview state activity championship.
• The One-Act Play "Flyboy" won first "starred performance" at state.
• Carrie Hortch won first Eastview individual state championship (in Gymnastics - Parallel Bars).
• The adapted soccer and cheerleading teams won first Eastview team state athletic championships.
• The building was dedicated on September 27, 1997.
• Eastview High School's first day of school and first pep fest was on September 2, 1997.

1996-1997

• Families selected Lightning as mascot and school colors as blue, black, silver and white in October.
• Families selected Eastview as school name for "High School #4" and the District 196 School Board approved in August.

1994-1995

• The site of "High School #4" was selected in the fall.
• Dr. Dewey was hired as Director of Administrative Services. His job included directing the Human Rights Department for District 196, designing and building "High School #4", then directing the hiring and program building for the new school in Apple Valley.

1993-1994

• "High School #4" school bond issue was passed on March 8, 1994.
• "High School #4" Facilities Needs Task Force was created in the fall.

Facilities

Eastview High School, District 196's fourth comprehensive high school, opened in September 1997. Eastview High School is located in Apple Valley, adjacent to 200 acres (0.81 km²) of playing fields and recreational facilities. The 330,000-square-foot (31,000 m²) facility is built to house 2,000 students in grades 9-12. Eastview High School's students have achieved high honors in academics, athletics, and the arts. Eastview was identified as a ten star school (highest rating) by the Minnesota Department of Education.
