Standard welcome, overdue

Welcome!

Hello, Wikipelli, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Studerby (talk) 19:27, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Glad to see you stuck around

I see you've hung around after that issue of interest has resolved itself. Wikipedia always needs more editors, especially those that can keep cool, follow process, and edit it good faith when the conflict gets heated. Studerby (talk) 19:27, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! I am feeling my way and overwhelmed when looking into the larger realm of articles. I was particularly disappointed in the article on Technology Integration (my forté). In looking at the edits and content, I think it probably ought to just be a section under Instructional Technology. I'm going slow, though. Thanks again (and I'm not sure if I reply to you here or not. On your talk page it would be out of context... oh well. I'll figure it out!Lacbolg (talk) 20:07, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Reminder to warn vandals after you revert their edits...

Hi Wikipelli, I wanted to thank you for undoing vandalism on articles. While it isn't absolutely necessary, could you also please warn the vandal on their talk page with the related vandalism reversion templates (personally I use {{uw-vandalism1}} through {{uw-vandalism4}}). What this does is (1) give the user a warning that their behavior is undesirable and (2) gives administrators evidence that the user has been sufficiently warned that they could be blocked for creating vandalism.

If you knew all this and purposely weren't using those templates then I apologize. You look new enough that you might not know the entire process for vandalism reversion.

Thanks again for the tip! Syrthiss (talk) 12:29, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Thank you! (I'm new enough that I don't know where to respond, really. Here or on *your* talk page.. ? )... I've been getting my feet wet (obviously) checking recent changes and only those of IP users (until I feel confident enough to undo logged in editors!). I am happy to use the warning template but haven't yet only because the undos have been on IP users that generally do not have talk pages. Should I go ahead and use it anyway?Wikipelli (talk) 12:36, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Here is fine (so I've reverted you). Just wanted you to see that here is the right place to respond (at least to me ;), some other editors prefer you reply at their talk pages... usually they'll have a note or something on their talk page that indicates whichever they prefer). Yep, if they don't have anything on their talk page feel free to create that page and place the warnings. Thanks!
Will do! Thanks again!Wikipelli (talk) 12:46, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Hey Wikipelli, as a lead on from this: firstly, thank you very much for your greatly needed help in the recent changes, when warning users who's edits you have reverted please add subst: in front of the template, for instance {{subst:uw-vandalism1}} See Wikipedia:Substitution for more information about this, or feel free to ask me about it. Again, thank you very much, kind regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 22:35, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! Will do... learning all the time.. :) Wikipelli (talk) 22:37, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Perfect, thanks. If you need any help with anything in future please feel free to let me know, kindest regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 22:46, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks again... I notice that several of those who clean up vandalism include warnings such as these but they refer specifically to the page and even the act (profanity, blanking, etc). Is that something that is contained in another template? A function of a bot? I like the specificity. Wikipelli (talk) 22:48, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Wikipedia:WARN lists all the various warning templates that can be used, most of them work on the same basis as {{uw-vandalism1}}, in that they go up in levels from 1 to 4, SpitfireTally-ho! 22:57, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Rollback

Snowolf How can I help? 03:34, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Apparently he doesn't like you now. Apparently, he didn't notice that I reverted 2/3 of his edits, so you get to be vandalized. :) Hopefully, an admin will block him now. Hi878 (talk) 04:42, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

And he was blocked, right as I said that. :) Hi878 (talk) 04:43, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
What I want to know is how the guys on ACC interface passed his username as appropriate... Deagle_AP (talk) 04:45, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Look at the reason for denying the unblocking request here. I like that rationale. :) Hi878 (talk) 05:10, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Excellent.  :) Wikipelli Talk 05:13, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Huggle

You use Huggle? Does that mean you are using some form of Wine, just so that you can run a Windows program??? I would expect more from an iMac user. :) Use Twinkle, or WikiGuard, don't go over to the dark side! Or should I say, you must leave the dark side, since you seem to already be there. :) Hi878 (talk) 05:01, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

:) Yeah, I'm on the dark side with my work laptop. I half-heartedly tried to get Wine working on my iMac, but it didn't go anywhere. I used Twinkle until I got rollback rights to use Huggle. I only go over to the 'dark side' late at night so no-one knows. Shhhhhh But I'm always looking to try new things... Wikipelli Talk 05:04, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Unbelievable... Unlike you, I am a devoted Mac addict, so I would never do that. Even when I have to use a PC, I don't use Huggle (or any other PC-only program, for that matter), I go to all the trouble of installing Safari so that Twinkle works. And if I can't do that, I just undo vandalism the old-fashioned way. :) Hi878 (talk) 05:07, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
I almost feel guilty now. :) I work in a PC world, unfortunately, and like the speed of Huggle. BTW, I like Chrome better than Safari now for just about everything... I hate that I prefer it, though, if that helps. ;) Wikipelli Talk 05:09, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Almost helps. :) All biases aside, I really think Chrome looks ugly. Almost everything else Google has made is perfect, in my opinion, but Chrome just... Is ugly. Even if it supposedly is way faster, or something like that, I prefer a browser that looks nicer to one that is uglier, but a little faster. Which is why I hate Firefox, it's ugly and slow. :) Hi878 (talk) 05:12, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

User talk:95.149.50.162

I believe your warning on the above page was inappropriate - the IP editor's contributions were clearly in good faith and not vandalism. DuncanHill (talk) 12:53, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks... I'll check it now. The phrasing on the link, "Visit their website" seemed out of place. Perhaps I was too quick. Thanks again. Wikipelli Talk 12:59, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
The IP editor is also learning, and guidance could help them. Rollback should only be used on blatant vandalism, which the edits were not. An undo, with an informative edit summary, and a personalised note with guidance on the editor's talk page would have been more appropriate. DuncanHill (talk) 13:09, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Quite right. I see what you mean. Thank you! Wikipelli Talk 13:11, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, DuncanHill (talk) 21:52, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Please delete this article completely. Recent privacy and safety concerns have come up regarding the articles content. I am asking for speedy deletion of: [[1]] Copyright issues are also present, but safety, and privacy should make sense. Thank you.

Heh

Nice Job with the Anti-vandalism. Just FYI this edit [2] was actually me, but no harm was done. Keep up the good work! Tim1357 talk 18:22, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Barnstars!

Congrats on your first barnstar =) WikiTome Talk 08:49, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Level 1

Hey Wikipelli, thanks for your help in fighting vandalism. Just a note: you don't have to stick to level 1 if a user hasn't been warned in a while. The IP that was butchering Terracotta Army, you could have given them a 2 or even 3 warning: there is a history of vandalism there, and you reverted no fewer than four vandal edits by them. It's not like one has to start with level 1 and then work up one step at the time--sometimes 4im is appropriate, sometimes a level 3 is a good place to begin, dependent on history and the nature of the edit. All the best, Drmies (talk) 03:18, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! Using (and getting used to) Huggle and learning to read the icons to see previous warnings and previous contribs (vandal and otherwise) from IPs... I'll get better at it.  :) thanks again! Wikipelli Talk 03:20, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
I'm not familiar with Huggle--I installed it once but it was too complicate. I use Twinkle, and occasionally I have another glance at Wikipedia:UTM#Warnings_and_notices to remind me of what's what. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 03:24, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

San Jose

I've EC'd with you a few times so I'll let you clean it up - but the article right now is essentially doubled up.  7  03:51, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

arggg... Sorry... I think it's ok now. Wikipelli Talk 03:53, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
No apologies! You got to it faster than me, while I was off RPPing it. Looks good now. Thanks.  7  04:00, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Igloo

I've found a way to make you stop using PC-only programs! Igloo is a pretty new vandal-fighting tool, but I've been using it for a little while now, and it works amazingly. You should get that, and then pick the UBX that I made to display on your userpage. :) Oh, I got Rollback, by the way. (I don't remember if you knew that or not. :)) Anyhoo, CONVERT TO IGLOO! Come back to the light side! Hi878 (talk) 04:37, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks.... I'm waiting to get on the whitelist. I'll use anything that's better on my Mac.  :) Wikipelli Talk 01:44, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes! I did it! Hi878 (talk) 04:05, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the cleanup. I was doing the ANI on him. Niteshift36 (talk) 18:55, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

No charge.  :) Wikipelli Talk 18:56, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Flag of Georgia

Well, you are very welcome! I'm somewhat of a flag hobbyist, myself, and recognized the flag instantly as the country, as opposed to the state. I've only just started dabbling in wikipedia, cleaning up some vandalism, so it's nice to see my time on the wiki wasn't completely wasted. By the way, I love your user name. :D -- 99.101.47.164 (talk) 01:46, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

:) I think I did the flags late one night and really must not have been paying attention. I'm a big fan of all things Kokopelli - the username just sort of happened here ....Welcome! and thanks again! Wikipelli Talk 01:49, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Templates removed because they were placed there maliciously or erroneously.

I apologize for making the edit to the Globcal page, I know one of the students that interns with them, I am a university professor. I only made the edit because it appears that someone placed it there to create doubt about what these people are doing in creating an international cooperative; but it was also because the templates refer to dead ends. Well that is all up to you guys if you want to run people in circles and have erroneous info on Wikipedia thats up to you.

The templates refer to a discussion and dispute that are non-existent.

"The neutrality of this article is disputed. Please see the discussion on the talk page. Please do not remove this message until the dispute is resolved. (February 2010)"

What dispute? Nothing on the Talk page about a discussion or dispute.

"This article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this article by adding reliable references. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed."

Maybe as a Wiki Editor you should go back and revert the guys edits that placed them there.

Whats wrong with the references they are reliable and valid? 186.89.245.149 (talk) 15:26, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

The references are ok as far as they go, but there is no citation or reference in the article that speaks about Globcal specifically. There are only references to Facebook Diplomacy, Social Diplomacy, etc. There are no references that indicate that the organization exists at all. Wikipelli Talk 01:36, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

igloo

Thanks for your interest in igloo. I've added you to the script whitelist, so if you now try and run the program it should allow you to connect. I'm very busy atm, but any feedback or suggestions are still welcome. Ale_Jrbtalk 11:11, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
